''Countryfile'' is a British television programme which airs weekly on BBC One and reports on rural, agricultural, and environmental issues in the United Kingdom. The programme is currently presented by John Craven, Adam Henson, Matt Baker, Tom Heap, Ellie Harrison, Paul Martin, Helen Skelton, Charlotte Smith, Steve Brown, Sean Fletcher & Anita Rani ''Countryfile'' currently airs every Sunday at various times. History The show was first broadcast on 24 July 1988 as ''Country File''. While farming remained a core ingredient, the programme held a much broader brief—to investigate rural issues and celebrate the beauty and diversity of the British countryside. One Man And His Dog
''One Man and His Dog'' is a BBC television series in the United Kingdom featuring sheepdog trials, originally presented by Phil Drabble, with commentary by Eric Halsall and, later, by Ray Ollerenshaw. It was first aired on 17 February 1976 and continues today (since 2013) as a special annual edition of ''Countryfile''. In 1994, Robin Page replaced Drabble as the main presenter. Gus Dermody took over as commentator until 2012. At its peak, in the early 1980s, it attracted audiences in excess of eight million. History The last regular series aired in 1999 on BBC Two; however, the same year also saw the first of a series of Christmas specials, which continued annually until 2011 and were contested by teams of shepherds from the four nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, in the three categories of Single, Brace and Young Handlers. Matt Baker
Matthew James Baker (born 23 December 1977) is a British television presenter. He co-presented the children's television show ''Blue Peter'' from 1999 until 2006, BBC One's ''Countryfile'' since 2009 and ''The One Show'' from 2011 to 2020, with Alex Jones. Early life Baker was born on 23 December 1977 at Easington in County Durham where his father ran a newsagent's shop, and his parents had a smallholding in the village. He has one sister and two half-sisters. Matt attended Easington Village School, then, when he was aged 10, his parents bought a farm west of Durham, which they moved into and renovated. Eleanor Harrison (born 17 November 1977) is an English television presenter, best known for co-presenting ''Countryfile'' since 2009. Early life Born to a father who was a carpenter and a mother a midwife, Harrison grew up in rural Gloucestershire close to Cirencester, where the family grew their own fruit and vegetables and kept chickens. She was educated at Sir William Romney's School, Tetbury, and later Cirencester College for her A-levels. While at university, she was in a relationship with Nathan Hutchings, son of actor Geoffrey Hutchings. Helen Elizabeth Skelton (born 19 July 1983) is an English television presenter and actress. She co-presented the BBC children's programme '' Blue Peter'' from 2008 until 2013, and since 2014 has been a presenter on ''Countryfile''. Thomas John Gillespie Heap (born 3 January 1966) is the Rural Affairs Correspondent of BBC News, and an English television and radio reporter and presenter best known for his contributions to the BBC One programme ''Countryfile'', the same channel's ''Panorama'' programme, and the BBC Radio 4 programme ''Costing the Earth''. John Craven
John Raymond Craven, (born 16 August 1940) is an English journalist and television presenter, best known for presenting the BBC programmes '' Newsround'', ''Countryfile'' and '' Beat the Brain''. Early life Craven was born in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire and educated at Leeds Modern School. Craven's father was held as a prisoner of war in Japan for three years during World War II. He left school at 16 and began an apprenticeship at Yorkshire Copperworks, writing for the company magazine. Early life Rani was born and brought up in Bradford, West Yorkshire to a Hindu father and a Sikh mother. Paul Martin (born 5 January 1959) is a British antiques dealer and professional drummer, best known for being the presenter of various BBC television antiques programmes including ''Flog It!'', ''Trust Me, I'm a Dealer'' and ''Paul Martin's Handmade Revolution''.
