Counterspy (film)
''Counterspy'' is a 1953 British thriller film directed by Vernon Sewell and starring Dermot Walsh, Hazel Court and Hermione Baddeley. A mild mannered accountant (Dermot Walsh) comes into possession of secret papers that both the government and a spy ring are after. Alexander Gauge turns in a good performance as a villain rather in the mould of Sydney Greenstreet. Film Poster
A film poster is a poster used to promote and advertise a film primarily to persuade paying customers into a theater to see it. Studios often print several posters that vary in size and content for various domestic and international markets. They normally contain an image with text. Today's posters often feature printed likenesses of the main actors. Prior to the 1980s, illustrations instead of photos were far more common. The text on film posters usually contains the film title in large lettering and often the names of the main actors. It may also include a tagline, the name of the director, names of characters, the release date, and other pertinent details to inform prospective viewers about the film. Film posters are often displayed inside and on the outside of movie theaters, and elsewhere on the street or in shops. (Derek) John Penrose (5 May 1914 – 22 May 1983) was a British actor. After graduating from RADA in 1936, he made his London stage debut the following year in ''Old Music'' at the St. James' Theatre. Paul Rich (20 August 1921 – 23 February 2000) was a singer and guitarist, recording many songs with Lou Preager's band. He later became a music publisher. Life Rich was born in London in 1921, son of immigrants from Russia. He studied guitar with Ivor Mairants, and in 1941 became a singer and guitarist with the Oscar Rabin Band. In 1942 he joined Lou Preager, whose band had begun a residency at the Hammersmith Palais in London; he made many recordings with the band, including "Cruising Down the River" in 1946. Howard Lang (born Donald Yarranton; 20 March 1911 – 11 December 1989) was an English actor known for playing Captain William Baines in the BBC nautical drama ''The Onedin Line''. Early life Lang was born in Marylebone, London, the son of Edward John Yarranton (1884–1954) and Clara Ann (née Malkin) (1888–1921). His father had left the family's bookbinding business to become a senior commercial traveller for Winsor & Newton, the manufacturer of artists' materials. Lang served for seven years in the Royal Navy including during World War II. In January 1941 he was appointed Temporary Sub-Lieutenant, and in January 1942 Temporary Lieutenant, a position he held until the end of the war.
