Counter-terrorism Rapid Response
The ''Counter-terrorism Rapid Response'' (Italian: Antiterrorismo Pronto Impiego, or ATPI) force, formed in 1983, is a special police unit of the Guardia di Finanza dealing with anti-terrorism in Italy. The unit took part in counterterrorism operations and VIP protection details in Italy. This unit has done operations in Albania, Kosovo and Hungary. History The AT-P.I., was founded in 1983, during the so-called " years of lead", is the component for special operations of the Guardia di Finanza. Born as an evolution of the 5 Supervision and Escort Values Sections at the Bank of Italy and 3 companies (Rome, Naples and Loreto) the personnel SVATPI (Scorta Antiterrorismo Pronto Impiego) was "creaoi" in 1977 in order to contrast the actions of the Red Brigades against vans carrying the Bank of Italy's values. Beretta M12
The Beretta M12 (Model 12) is a 9×19mm Parabellum caliber submachine gun designed by Beretta. Production started in 1959, the first users were the Italian Carabinieri, Italian State Police and the Guardia di Finanza, though in limited number, it was only widely issued beginning in 1978, replacing the old Beretta MAB. In 1962 the Italian Army bought a limited number of Franchi LF-57 submachine guns, judged better than the M12 but never issued to the troops, and only in 1992 the M12S2 variant was introduced, in very limited number. The Italian Air Force, instead bought many M12S and M12S2 for the airport security units. However the weapon had a higher initial success in the Arab countries and South America. Salvatore Formica (born 1 March 1927), best known as Rino Formica, is a former Italian politician. Biography Formica was born in Bari. He became a member of national importance of the Italian Socialist Party (Italian: ''Partito Socialista Italiano'', or simply PSI) during the leadership of Bettino Craxi. He was several times Minister of the Italian Republic starting from 1980. He was Minister of Budget in the Spadolini II Cabinet, whose fall was caused by a quarrel between Formica and the other economy minister Beniamino Andreatta. Formica was strongly critical of the PSI's transformation from a popular, social-based party into one involved in numerous corruption and official malfeasance scandals under Craxi. The Fiat Bravo and Fiat Brava (Type 182) are small family cars produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1995 to 2003 (2001 in Europe).
