Jules Cottin
Jules Cottin (1868–1922) was a mandolin virtuoso who played in Paris from the 1890s. A pupil of the guitarist Jacques Bosch, he became part of the mandolin revival, which revitalized the instrument after its long decline in the 19th century. He was part of a group of virtuosi mandolinists, including Giuseppe Silvestri, Ferdinando de Cristofaro, and Jean Pietrapertosa, who played before enthusiastic Paris audiences. He was also a composer and author, writing the 1891 mandolin method book, ''Celèbre Méthode Complète Theoretique et Pratique de Mandoline''. Cottin played in Paris with his brother Alfred (1863–1923), who played guitar, and his sister Madeleine (1876 – d. after 1952). Camille Cottin (; born 1 December 1978) is a French actress and comedian. Following her debut as a stage actress, she became known in 2013 for playing a capricious Parisian woman in the Canal+ hidden camera-sketches series ''Connasse'' (2013–2015), as well as in the theatrical film based on the series ''The Parisian Bitch, Princess of Hearts'' (2015), which brought her significant mainstream success in France. His father held his fortune from the family silk business created in 1830 and of which he was an associate: "Les petits fils de Claude-Joseph Bonnet". Due to the large number of descendants of the latter, the custom was that only the elder sons of each branch could enter the business. Louis Émile Cottin (March 14, 1896 – October 8, 1936, nicknamed "Milou") was a French militant anarchist who is best known for the attempted assassination of Georges Clemenceau. Early life Cottin was born to a working-class family in Creil, France on March 14, 1896, and raised in Compiègne. ''Note that the death date provided by this source is in conflict with all others.'' Sophie Cottin (22 March 1770 – 25 August 1807) was a French writer whose novels were popular in the 19th century, and were translated into several different languages. Biography Marie Sophie Ristaud (sometimes spelt Risteau) was born in March 1770 at Tonneins. She was not yet twenty when she married her first husband, Jean-Paul-Marie Cottin, a banker. She wrote several romantic and historical novels including ''Elizabeth; or, the Exiles of Siberia'' (''Elisabeth ou les Exilés de Sibérie'' 1806), a "wildly romantic but irreproachably moral tale", according to Nuttall's Encyclopaedia.
