Cosmonaut
An astronaut (from the Ancient Greek (), meaning 'star', and (), meaning 'sailor') is a person trained, equipped, and deployed by a human spaceflight program to serve as a commander or crew member aboard a spacecraft. Although generally reserved for professional space travelers, the term is sometimes applied to anyone who travels into space, including scientists, politicians, journalists, and tourists. "Astronaut" technically applies to all human space travelers regardless of nationality. However, astronauts fielded by Russia or the Soviet Union are typically known instead as cosmonauts (from the Russian "kosmos" (космос), meaning "space", also borrowed from Greek). Comparatively recent developments in crewed spaceflight made by China have led to the rise of the term taikonaut (from the Mandarin "tàikōng" (), meaning "space"), although its use is somewhat informal and its origin is unclear. ''Cosmonaut'' ( it, Cosmonauta) is a 2009 Italian coming-of-age film written and directed by Susanna Nicchiarelli. It won the Controcampo Italiano at the 66th Venice International Film Festival. It also won the Ciak d'oro for best first work. Plot Cosmonaut follows a young girl named Luciana, who struggles to have her voice heard in a youth communist group dominated by men. She comes up with the platform to mobilize communism in her town by bringing recognition to the Soviet's progress in the space race. As a strong and stubborn female character, she struggles to balance new relationships and her role as her epileptic brother's supervisor. ''The Cosmonaut'' (''El Cosmonauta'') is a Spanish science-fiction film, directed by Nicolás Alcalá and produced by Carola Rodríguez and Bruno Teixidor. It premiered in May 2013. The first feature-length project of ''Riot Cinema Collective'' is notable for its use of crowdfunding and Creative Commons license in its production. Plot In 1967, two young friends, Stas and Andrei, arrive to the newly built Star City (near Moscow) where the first cosmonauts trained to go into space, and where a race against the clock to beat the Americans into space takes place. Stas and Andrei will witness first-hand the political plots, the fights for power and the successes and failures of the Soviet Union in some of the greatest achievements of the 20th century. They will meet Yulia, a communications technician, with whom they will strike up a strong friendship, always close to love but never consummated. The Cosmonauts Sea (, ''More Kosmonavtov''; sometimes misspelled ''Cosmonaut Sea'') was a proposed sea name as part of the Southern Ocean, off the Prince Olav Coast and Enderby Land, Antarctica, between about 30°E and 50°E. It would have an area of . It would be bordered by two other proposals from a 2002 International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) draft, a Cooperation Sea to the east, and to the west a Riiser-Larsen Sea. The Cosmonauts Sea , which was named in 1962 by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in honor of the world's first cosmonauts and the beginning of crewed space exploration era. The name first appeared as a Russian proposal to the IHO in the IHO 2002 draft. This draft was never approved by the IHO (or any other organization), and the 1953 IHO document remains currently in force. Finch (American Band)
Finch is an American rock band from Temecula, California. The band released an EP ''Falling into Place'' and two full-length albums, ''What It Is to Burn'' and '' Say Hello to Sunshine'' before declaring a hiatus in 2006. Finch reformed in 2007, playing a reunion show on November 23 at the Glasshouse in Pomona, California. They released a self-titled EP a year later, and were in the process of writing their third studio album when they disbanded in late 2010. After playing a group of shows commemorating the ten-year anniversary of ''What It Is to Burn'' in 2012, Finch signed with Razor & Tie in 2014 and revealed that they were working on a new studio album.
