The Constitutional Court of the Italian Republic ( it, Corte costituzionale della Repubblica Italiana) is the highest court of Italy in matters of constitutional law. Sometimes, the name ''Consulta'' is used as a metonym for it, because its sessions are held in Palazzo della Consulta in Rome. History The court is a post-World War II innovation. The Court was established by the republican Constitution of Italy in 1948, but it became operative only in 1955 after the enactment of the Constitutional Law n. 1 of 1953 and the Law n. 87 of 1953. Classified Information
Classified information is material that a government body deems to be sensitive information that must be protected. Access is restricted by law or regulation to particular groups of people with the necessary security clearance and need to know, and mishandling of the material can incur criminal penalties. A formal security clearance is required to view or handle classified material. The clearance process requires a satisfactory background investigation. Documents and other information must be properly marked "by the author" with one of several (hierarchical) levels of sensitivity—e.g. restricted, confidential, secret, and top secret. The choice of level is based on an impact assessment; governments have their own criteria, including how to determine the classification of an information asset and rules on how to protect information classified at each level. Giovanni Amoroso
Giovanni Amoroso (born 30 March 1949) is an Italian judge. He has been Judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy since 13 November 2017. Amoroso was born in Mercato San Severino on 30 March 1949. He was elected to the Constitutional Court by the Court of Cassation on 26 October 2017. He won 210 votes, with his competitor Renato Rordorf obtaining 11. At the time of his election Amoroso served as president of the labour section of the Court of Cassation. He was sworn in on 13 November 2017. Giulio Prosperetti (born 7 December 1946) is an Italian judge and labour law professor at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He has been Judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy since 21 December 2015. Career Prosperetti was born in Perugia on 7 December 1946. In 1971 he obtained a degree in Jurisprudence under Giuseppe Guarino. He worked as a professor of labour law between 1985 and 1994 at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. Since 1994 he has been a professor of labour law at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Prosperetti has been a judge at the Court of Appeal of Vatican City for more than twenty years. On 16 December 2015, the Italian Parliament elected three candidates to the Constitutional Court of Italy: Augusto Barbera, Franco Modugno and Prosperetti. Franco Modugno
Franco Modugno (born 3 May 1938) is an Italian judge and former law professor at the Sapienza University of Rome. He has been Judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy since 21 December 2015. Career Modugno was born in Rome on 3 May 1938. He obtained a degree in Jurisprudence from the Sapienza University of Rome in 1961. Six years later Modugno started as lecturer of constitutional law at the University of Teramo. He held similar positions at the University of Macerata from 1972 to 1973 and the University of Salerno from 1973 to 1975. In 1975 he started as a professor of Public Law at the Sapienza University and later also held a chair in constitutional law. Nicolò Zanon (; born 27 March 1961) is an Italian judge and law professor. He has been Judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy since 11 November 2014. Previously he was a law professor at the University of Milan. Career Zanon was born in Turin. Giorgio Napolitano (; born 29 June 1925) is an Italian politician who served as president of Italy from 2006 to 2015, the first Italian president to be re-elected to the presidency.
