''Corroboration'', or ''Corroboration: A Journey Through the Musical Landscape of 21st Century Australia'', is a 2001 compilation album by various Australian artists which was released on the Festival Mushroom Records imprint, Sputnik. It was the result of a project put together by Kurt Luthy. It brought together Indigenous and non-Indigenous musicians and bands from various genres, with the majority of the songs especially written for the compilation. It reached No. 92 on ARIA Top 100 Albums chart. Accolades Noel Mengel wrote in '' The Courier Mail'' that "it succeeds not just in the way it crosses genres and cultures but because of the quality of the music that results." '' The Australian''s Sandra Bridekirk gave it four stars, calling it "the most unconventional snapshot of Australian music you could get – miles further down the track than predictable Oz rock samplers". Karla Grant is an Australian presenter, producer and journalist for the Special Broadcasting Service, SBS's national Indigenous current affairs program ''Living Black'', focusing on issues concerning Indigenous Australians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within Australia. Kev Carmody
Kevin Daniel Carmody (born 1946), better known by his stage name Kev Carmody, is an Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter and musician, a Murri people, Murri man from northern Queensland. He is best known for the song "From Little Things Big Things Grow", which was recorded with co-writer Paul Kelly (Australian musician), Paul Kelly for their 1993 single. It was cover version, covered by the Get Up Mob (including guest vocals by both Carmody and Kelly) in 2008 and peaked at number four on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles charts. Carmody has won many awards, and in 2009 was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as well as being a recipient of the Queensland Greats Awards. The Cruel Sea are an Australian indie rock band from Sydney, New South Wales formed in late 1987. Katie Anne Noonan (born 2 May 1977) is an Australian singer-songwriter. In addition to a successful solo career encompassing opera, jazz, pop, rock and dance, she was the singer in the band George and remains the singer in the band Elixir; performs with her mother Maggie Noonan; and plays with her band The Captains. George (stylised as george) were an Australian rock band from Brisbane, Queensland. The band's first album, ''Polyserena'', reached No. 1 on the Australian charts on 17 March 2002. Background For most of george's career, the band consisted of Katie Noonan on vocals and keyboards, her brother Tyrone Noonan on vocals, guitar and keyboards, Geoff Green on drums and percussion, Paulie Bromley on bass guitar and Nick Stewart on guitar. David McComb
David Richard McComb (17 February 19622 February 1999) was an Australian musician. He was the singer-songwriter and guitarist of the Australian bands, The Triffids (1976–89) and The Blackeyed Susans (1989–93). He also had a solo career including leading David McComb and The Red Ponies. Over his career McComb had bouts of alcoholism, and amphetamine and heroin abuse. He developed cardiomyopathy and in 1996 underwent a heart transplant. David McComb died on 2 February 1999 "due to heroin toxicity and mild acute rejection of his 1996 heart transplant", according to the coroner. In May 2001, the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), as part of its 75th Anniversary celebrations, named "Wide Open Road" by The Triffids – written by McComb – as one of the APRA Top 30 Australian songs, Top 30 Australian songs of all time. It appeared in October 1987 and reached No. 48 on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart. Note: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. It was produced by Gil Norton ( Pixies, Echo & the Bunnymen, Foo Fighters) and written by David McComb, the group's lead singer and guitarist. James Oswald Little, AO (1 March 19372 April 2012) was an Australian Aboriginal musician, actor and teacher, who was a member of the Yorta Yorta tribe and was raised on the Cummeragunja Reserve, New South Wales. Little started his professional career in 1951, as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, which spanned six decades. For many years he was the main Aboriginal star on the Australian music scene. His music was influenced by Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and American country music artist Jim Reeves. His gospel song "Royal Telephone" (1963) sold over 75,000 copies, and his most popular album, ''Messenger'', peaked at No. 26 in 1999 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
