Corpus Christi Church, Nundah
Corpus Christi Church is a heritage-listed Roman Catholic church at 65 Bage Street, Nundah, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Hennessey, Hennessey, Keesing and Co and built from 1925 to 1926 by Stanley Samuel Carrick. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 6 July 1995. History The Corpus Christi Church was constructed in 1925-1926, for the Roman Catholic parish at Nundah, who formerly practiced in a small timber church on another site. The church was constructed under the guidance of the then Archbishop James Duhig, who promoted Catholic presence in Brisbane by exploiting prominent sites, to produce landmarks. Corpus Christi may have been designed as a scale model for the Holy Name Cathedral which was in the planning stages at this time. The Corpus Christi Church in Nesvizh, Belarus, is an early Jesuit church and one of the oldest Baroque structures outside Italy,Andrzej Piotrowski, Architecture of Thought. Commissioned by Prince Nicholas Radziwill and constructed between 1587 and 1593 by Gian Maria Bernardoni during the times of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, it contains tombs of powerful Radiziwiłł family members. The church is included into the UNESCO World Heritage list. History Construction and Architecture The first wooden Corpus Christi church was built in 1510 by Petr Kishka who owned Nesvizh in the early 16th century. In 1555 Nikolai Cherniy Radziwiłł (lit. The Corpus Christi Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Għasri, in Gozo, Malta. It forms part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gozo. It is under current administration of the Rev. Dr Dominic Sultana. Elevation to Parish Church By a decree issued on 19 May 1921, Pope Benedict XV authorised the formation of the Corpus Christi Parish - one of the newest parishes in the diocese - with the Corpus Christi Church as the parish church. Artwork The Chancel The titular altarpiece is The Last Supper by Lazzaro Pisani and is located in the choir. It was commissioned by the then-curator and vice-parish priest the Rev. Fr. Carmelo Caruana. The painting was installed in 1917. By 2007, due to the weight of the canvas itself, creases were forming in the painting and it was getting unstuck from its frame. History The basilica was erected in stages beginning in 1340 until about the mid-15th century. Home Farm Road (also referred to as Homefarm Road) is a regional road situated in upper Drumcondra, Dublin, Ireland. It is notable for being the place of origin of Home Farm F.C. It was previously named St. Mary's Road up to the tenth house. The road is named after the medieval home farm of the Priory of the Most Holy Trinity, which was located in Glasnevin. Route It runs for approximately 872 m (about half a mile) from Drumcondra Road Upper to Mobhi Road and has seven side streets: Arran Road, Achill Road, Clare Road, Valentia Road, Bantry Road, Lambay Road, Rathlin Road all named after islands around Ireland. Drumcondra () is a residential area and inner suburb on the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. It is administered by Dublin City Council. The River Tolka and the Royal Canal flow through the area. History The village of Drumcondra was the central area of the civil parish of Clonturk, and the two names were used equally for the religious and civil parishes, but the modern suburban district of Drumcondra also encompasses the old Parish of St. Mary. Corpus Christi Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Sioux City. The church is located in Fort Dodge, Iowa, United States and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History Corpus Christi parish can trace its beginnings to a Mass that was held in the home of Michael Collins in 1855. At the time the Fort Dodge area was a part of the Diocese of Dubuque, which covered the state of Iowa. The parish was founded the following year and the Rev. John Vahey was sent as its first pastor. It was the first parish founded in what would become the Diocese of Sioux City. Corpus Christi Cathedral is a cathedral church located in Corpus Christi, Texas, United States. It is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of Corpus Christi. History St. Patrick's Cathedral In the early years of Corpus Christi, priests would come from as far away as Laredo and Victoria to minister to the pastoral needs of the Catholics in the area. Because there was no church building Mass was celebrated in private homes. The Rev. Bernard O'Reilly was assigned by Bishop Jean-Marie Odin of Galveston to be the first pastor in Corpus Christi. Mass was being celebrated in a small adobe church by 1855, two years before the structure itself was completed. The property on which the church was built was bounded by Leopard, Tancahua, Antelope and Caranchua Streets. It had been donated by H. L. Kinney.
