''Corporate Shadowfiles'' is a supplement published by FASA in 1993 for the dystopian cyberpunk role-playing game ''Shadowrun''. Contents ''Corporate Shadowfiles'' is a 140-page softcover book by Nigel Findley that details the operations of future 21st-century megacorporations, how large corporations are structured, and some basic economics. Reception In the December 1993 edition of ''Dragon'' (Issue #200), Rick Swan was not a fan of the book, which he said examined its subject matter "in lengthy, often excruciating detail." Swan found the tone to be stuffy and professorial, and concluded by advising gamers to give it a pass: "Business majors may enjoy sifting through 140-plus pages of this, but others probably will find it excessive." A corporation is an organization—usually a group of people or a company—authorized by the state to act as a single entity (a legal entity recognized by private and public law "born out of statute"; a legal person in legal context) and recognized as such in law for certain purposes. Early incorporated entities were established by charter (i.e. by an ''ad hoc'' act granted by a monarch or passed by a parliament or legislature). Most jurisdictions now allow the creation of new corporations through registration. Corporations come in many different types but are usually divided by the law of the jurisdiction where they are chartered based on two aspects: by whether they can issue stock, or by whether they are formed to make a profit.
