Coronations (women's Cricket)
Coronations, previously known as Devnarain XI, are a South African women's cricket team that compete in the Women's T20 Super League. The team has no geographical base, instead being made up of some of the best players from across South Africa. They are captained by Lara Goodall and coached by Martelize van der Merwe. They have won two T20 Super League tournaments, in 2019 and 2020–21. History Coronations were first formed in 2019 to compete in the Women's T20 Super League, a tournament designed to provide more competitive cricket to the best players in South Africa. For the first edition of the tournament, the side was named after its coach, Dinesha Devnarain, becoming Devnarain XI. They were captained by Mignon du Preez. Lara Goodall
Lara Goodall (born 26 April 1996) is a South African cricketer who represents South Africa in Women's One Day Internationals and Women's Twenty20 Internationals. In February 2019, Cricket South Africa named her as one of the players in the Powerade Women's National Academy intake for 2019. In September 2019, she was named in the M van der Merwe XI squad for the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 Super League in South Africa. On 23 July 2020, Goodall was named in South Africa's 24-woman squad to begin training in Pretoria, ahead of their tour to England. Laura Wolvaardt
Laura Wolvaardt (born 26 April 1999) is a South African cricketer who currently plays for Western Province, Adelaide Strikers, Gujarat Giants and South Africa. She plays as a right-handed opening batter. She has previously played for Northern Superchargers and Brisbane Heat. Career Domestic Aged 13, Wolvaardt was selected to play for the Western Province U-19 girls' team. Off Spin
Off spin is a type of finger spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called an off spinner. Off spinners are right arm, right-handed spin bowling, spin bowlers who use their fingers to spin the ball. Their normal Delivery (cricket), delivery is an off break, which spins from left to right (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the cricket pitch, pitch. For a right-handed batsman, this is from his off side to the leg side (that is, towards the right-handed batsman, or away from a left-handed batsman). Leg Spin
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break. Leg spinners bowl mostly leg breaks, varying them by adjusting the line and length, and amount of side spin versus topspin of the deliveries. Suné Elbie Luus ( , ; born 5 January 1996) is a South African professional cricketer, who plays for the national cricket team as a leg spin bowling all-rounder. Early life and education Luus was born and raised in Pretoria. Even when she was a toddler, her father encouraged her to play cricket. "My dad was a mini cricket coach – I'm still a daddy's girl!" Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. 2022–23 Women's T20 Super League
The 2022–23 Women's T20 Super League was the fourth edition of the Women's T20 Super League competition, that took place in South Africa. It took place from 12 to 16 December 2022, with 4 teams competing: three composite teams of the best players in South Africa, and the South Africa Under-19 team for the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup. With five matches abandoned due to rain, no overall winner was declared for the competition. Starlights topped the group standings, winning all of their completed matches. Ayabonga Khaka
Ayabonga Khaka (born 18 July 1992) is a South African cricketer who plays for the national cricket team as a right-arm medium bowler. In March 2018, she was one of fourteen players to be awarded a national contract by Cricket South Africa ahead of the 2018–19 season. Early life and education Khaka was born and raised in Middledrift (also Middeldrift or Ixesi), near Alice in Eastern Cape. Her first experience of cricket was playing it in the streets of her home town. She started playing the game formally while in grade 1 at Ingwenya Primary School.
