Coronado High School is a public high school located in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. The school enrolled 1,044 students in the 2016–2017 school year. Students primarily come from feeder schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District. History Coronado High School, named for the Spanish conquistador Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, opened to students in grades 9-12 in fall 1961 as a public comprehensive high school with an emphasis on college preparatory and vocational/technical curriculum. The school mascot is the Coronado Don, ''don'' being the name for a Spanish nobleman. Coronado High School (CHS) is a public high school in Coronado, California. It is the only high school in the Coronado Unified School District. The California Department of Education gave it a California Distinguished School award in 2011 and two Model Continuation High School awards in 2014 and 2018. The Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA) is located on the campus of CHS. History Coronado High School was established in 1913. In 1939, the original building was knocked down and rebuilt as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration. It was renovated again in 1961 and 2006. In the 1970's, a group of students led by former Spanish teacher Lou Villar developed what became a $100-million dollar worldwide drug smuggling operation. In 2008, the school was named a National Blue Ribbon School. CHS was the only school in San Diego County to win the award. Coronado High School (CHS) is a public high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. It is part of the Colorado Springs School District 11. Coronado High School is located on Mesa Road and Fillmore Street, on a mesa overlooking Colorado Springs, with a view of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. Coronado High School is a public high school in Henderson, Nevada, part of Clark County School District. History The school was named after Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, a Spanish conquistador. It opened in 2000, with Monte Bay as its first principal. In 2005 Bay was selected as Nevada's Principal of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas, United States is located on the west side of El Paso near the intersection of North Mesa Street and Resler Drive. It serves the southern part of west El Paso: east of Interstate 10, from the vicinity of Executive Center Boulevard north approximately three miles to around Coronado Arroyo, a normally dry stream bed running west down from the Franklin Mountains just north of Escondido Drive; and the portion of the Upper Valley (the part of El Paso County beside the Rio Grande west of Interstate 10) which lies south of Country Club Road.
