Corona Station (Edmonton)
Corona station is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Jasper Avenue between 107 Street and 108 Street. It is the closest station to NorQuest College. History Corona station was opened in June 1983 along with Bay station when the LRT system was extended by 0.8 km beneath Jasper Avenue from Central station. The station was named after the Corona Hotel which was located on the current site of First Edmonton Place, an office tower directly above the station. The station and First Edmonton Place both opened in 1983. Corona station was the southern terminus of the LRT line prior to the opening of Grandin station in September 1989. NorQuest College is a publicly funded community college in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The student body is approximately 10,900 full-time or part-time credit students, and approximately 8,500 non-credit or continuing education students. Approximately 1,600 students graduate each year. Government Centre station (formerly known as Grandin/Government Centre station) is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Central station is an Edmonton Light Rail Transit station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves both the Capital Line and the Metro Line. It is an underground station located beneath Jasper Avenue between 100 Street and 101 Street. History Central LRT Station was one of the original five stations when the line opened on April 22, 1978. When the LRT first opened, Central station was the original southern terminus. ETS once operated a Transit Information kiosk at 100A Street and Jasper Avenue, above the station; however, it has since been relocated to the Edmonton Tower. Jasper Avenue is an arterial road in central Edmonton, Alberta, and is the city's main street. Jasper Avenue has no official street number but is aligned with 101 Avenue with the majority of its length.
