Cornelius Augustine McGlennon
Cornelius Augustine McGlennon (December 10, 1878 – June 13, 1931) was an American Democratic Party politician who represented from 1919 to 1921. Biography McGlennon was born in East Newark, New Jersey, on December 10, 1878. Throughout his younger years he attended Holy Cross School in Harrison, New Jersey, and St. Francis Xavier's High School in Manhattan, New York City. McGlennon later attended college and graduated from Seton Hall College in South Orange, New Jersey, in 1899. After this, he became a public and high-school principal from 1901 until 1926. Cornelius also studied law at the New Jersey Law School in Newark, New Jersey, before he was admitted to the bar in 1916. McGlennon practiced law in East Newark, New Jersey. Sometime afterwards, McGlennon's interest piqued in politics. McGlennon served as member of the New Jersey Senate in 1917 and 1918, and then served as Democratic floor leader in 1918. Harris & Ewing Inc. was a photographic studio in Washington, D.C., owned and run by George W. Harris (photographer), George W. Harris and Martha Ewing. History As a rookie news photographer, Harris covered the Johnstown Flood, Johnstown flood of 1889 in Pennsylvania. He worked at Hearst Corporation, Hearst News Service in San Francisco from 1900 to 1903, then joined President Theodore Roosevelt's press entourage on a train trip. Roosevelt, or a San Francisco newspaper editor, angry at having no photograph of George Frisbie Hoar to run with the story of his death, urged him to open a studio in Washington to photograph notable people there. He took Ewing, an artist and Hand-colouring of photographs, colorist with whom he had worked; she financed the company and managed the studio. The 66th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, comprising the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, DC from March 4, 1919, to March 4, 1921, during the last two years of Woodrow Wilson's presidency. The apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives was based on the Thirteenth Census of the United States in 1910. The Republicans won majorities in both the House and the Senate, thus taking control of both chambers. This is the last congress to have no female members of congress in the House of Representatives, and thus the last time there was an all-male congress (several subsequent congresses, up to the 96th congress, would have periods with no women in the Senate but several in the House). Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange
Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is located in East Orange and Newark, New Jersey. The Garden State Parkway runs through the two halves of the cemetery (exit 144 and exit 145, respectively). This cemetery was established in 1859 and is maintained by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. In the 1950s, the newly-constructed Garden State Parkway cut directly through the cemetery. Prior to 1947, the structure of the judiciary in New Jersey was extremely complex, including Court of Errors and Appeals in the last resort in all causes. The Court of Errors and Appeals was the highest court in the U.S. state of New Jersey from the enactment of the state's 1844 constitution until the enactment of the state's 1947 constitution. The name of the court derived from its function of hearing appeals and correcting previous courts errors in judgment. The court was abolished by the 1947 constitution, and replaced as the state's highest court by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
