Cornelius A. Davenport
Cornelius A. Davenport (July 3, 18431920) was an American farmer, Republican politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He represented Waushara County in the Wisconsin State Assembly during the 1891 and 1893 sessions. He previously served as sheriff of Waushara County and served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Biography Davenport was born on July 3, 1843, in Antwerp, New York. He moved to Nepeuskun, Wisconsin in 1855 before later moving to the town of Aurora, Waushara County, Wisconsin. During the American Civil War, Davenport served with the 30th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. He died in 1920. Political career Davenport was elected to the Assembly in 1890 and 1892. Waushara County, Wisconsin
Waushara County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,520. Its county seat is Wautoma. Waushara County is located in central Wisconsin, about north of Madison. History Waushara County was established by an act of the Wisconsin Legislature on February 15, 1851. It originally consisted of a single organized Town of Waushara. In 1852 the county achieved full organization. The county seat was first located at Sacramento and was relocated to Wautoma in 1854 after a bitter fight between proponents of the two places.
