Cornelis Dusart
Cornelis Dusart (April 24, 1660 – October 1, 1704) was a Dutch Genre works, genre painter, draftsman, and printmaker. He was born in Haarlem. Dusart was a pupil of Adriaen van Ostade from about 1675 to 1679, and was accepted into the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke in 1679. His works are similar in style and subject to those of his mentor. Especially notable are his highly finished drawings of peasants, depicted singly in colored chalks and watercolor.Robinson, p. 208. He died in Haarlem. Notes References *Robinson, W. Dutch Golden Age painting is the painting of the Dutch Golden Age, a period in Dutch history roughly spanning the 17th century, during and after the later part of the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) for Dutch independence. The new Dutch Republic was the most prosperous nation in Europe and led European trade, science, and art. The northern Netherlandish provinces that made up the new state had traditionally been less important artistic centres than cities in Flanders in the south.
