Cormac De Barra
Cormac de Barra is a harpist, singer and television presenter and is part of the Moya Brennan Band. Biography De Barra comes from a family of traditional musicians and singers from Dublin with roots in County Cork. He studied Irish harp with his grandmother, Róisín Ní Shé, in Dublin and went on to study concert harp in the US with Leone Paulson. Cormac's professional debut was a six-month tour in Osaka, Japan playing in the Irish Exhibition at Expo '90. While in Japan he gave a performance for Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in their palace at Akasaka, Tokyo. Also present at the recital was Irish Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney. Cormac also spent six months in Seville, Spain, performing at Expo 92. He toured with a family group, with harpist Anne-Marie O'Farrell and as a solo artist from 1993 onwards, also finding time to work in theatre in Dublin both as a performer in W.B. Harpist
The harp is a stringed musical instrument that has a number of individual string (music), strings running at an angle to its sound board (music), soundboard; the strings are plucked with the fingers. Heart Strings (Moya Brennan Album)
''Heart Strings'' is a live album by Irish singer Moya Brennan. The album was released in September 2008, but was previously available to fans throughout Brennan's Spring 2008 tour of the Netherlands. It was recorded at her concerts on 21 October 2007 in the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, and in November 2007 in Germany. A new version featuring "Harry's Game" was released in 2009. Versions The version of the album available during Moya Brennan's Spring 2008 tour (as opposed to worldwide release) sounds different, mainly the strings being lower in volume. The front cover of the album also varies, with the placing of "Live with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra" at the bottom of the cover on the large-scale item. Finally, the track "Harry's Game" does not feature on the Spring 2008 tour item, and was added to the large distributed release. ''Signature'' is a music album by Irish musician Moya Brennan. This is her seventh solo album to be released. It was released on the 9 October 2006 in Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands. Máire Breatnach is an Irish fiddle, violin and viola player. She also sings in Irish on some of her albums. Since the early 1990s, she has recorded five solo albums, participated in many collaborations, and developed didactic material for children, mostly in Irish. Early life Born in Dublin, Máire Breatnach obtained a B.A., B.Mus. and M.A. degrees at UCD, in Dublin where she lectured, as she also did in the College of Music, DIT before starting a freelance career as a performing musician. She later obtained a further M.A., in Ethnomusicology, from the University of Limerick, and a Ph.D. from Dublin City University in 2013. Karin Leitner (born 1972) is an Austrian flautist and composer. She has played flute and piccolo with the orchestras of the Vienna State Opera and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
