Corinth was located at the junction of Texas State Highway 49, Farm to Market Road 248, and Farm to Market Road 1324 northeast of Jefferson, Texas, Jefferson. In 1936, Corinth had a church, a factory, a school, and several businesses. The school closed in 1955, and by 1962 all that was left of the community was its church and cemetery. Marion County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 9,725. Its county seat is Jefferson. Marion County is in East Texas and is named for Francis Marion, the Revolutionary War general from South Carolina who was nicknamed the "Swamp Fox". State Highway 49 (SH 49) is a designated north–south state highway in Texas, running from Mount Pleasant, Texas to a point on the Texas-Louisiana border about north of Caddo Lake, where it meets Louisiana Highway 2, which continues onward to Trees, Louisiana. SH 49 covers a total distance of . State Highway 49 begins at The Bill Ratliff Freeway U.S. Highway 271 in western Mount Pleasant, and progresses in a southeasterly direction, merging with US 259 at the city limits of Daingerfield, running concurrently through the center of the town, then joins State Highway 11, forming a triple concurrency for about one-third of a mile, passing an overpass of the former Louisiana and Arkansas Railway with only 13'6" of clearance. Jefferson is a city in Marion County, Texas, Marion County, in the U.S. state of Texas's Northeast Texas, northeastern region.
