Coral Edge LRT Station
Coral Edge LRT station is an elevated Light Rail Transit (Singapore), Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Punggol LRT line East Loop in Punggol, Singapore. It was opened on 29 January 2005 together with the Sengkang LRT line, Sengkang LRT West Loop. The station is located near Punggol Plaza and Punggol 21 Community Club along Punggol Field between the junctions of Edgedale Plains and Punggol Field Walk. Etymology The name is taken from the Punggol Coral Residents' Committee (RC), which manages a cluster of Housing and Development Board, HDB flats near the station. Incidents On 9 January 2020, at around 2.15pm, a crack was spotted on one of the elevated concrete slabs — known as plinths — on which the LRT's light rail vehicles run. The “isolated” crack was located between the Riviera and Coral Edge stations. Light Rail Transit (Singapore)
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) is a series of localised automated guideway transit systems acting as feeder services to the heavy rail Mass Rapid Transit, which together forms the core of Singapore's rail transport services. 1 Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Punggol Plaza
Punggol Plaza is a shopping mall located in Punggol, Singapore, near Coral Edge LRT station. The mall is the oldest and one of the first to be built in Punggol to cater to the needs of the residents living there. It was officially opened in September 2004. The Punggol LRT line is an automated guideway transit line in Singapore. The line, which initially opened on 29 January 2005, connects the residential districts and suburbs of Punggol to Punggol Town Centre, where it connects with the North East MRT line and the Punggol Bus Interchange. Punggol, alternatively spelled as Ponggol, is a Planning Areas of Singapore, planning area and New towns of Singapore, new town situated on the Tanjong Punggol peninsula in the North-East Region, Singapore, North-East Region of Singapore. The town directly borders Sengkang to the south and shares riverine boundaries with the planning area of Seletar to the west and Pasir Ris to the east. Corals are marine invertebrates within the class Anthozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. They typically form compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. Coral species include the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton.
