Cora Baldock
Cora Vellekoop Baldock (born 16 December 1935) is an Australian-Dutch Sociologist. She was president of the The Australian Sociological Association, Australian Sociological Association 1979-1980 and served as a member of the Government of Australia, Australian Federal Government's Multicultural Advisory Committee. She was the first female professor at Murdoch University, Perth, and its first professor of sociology. Biography Cora Baldock was born Corrie Vellekoop on 16 December 1935 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She grew up with relatives who worked in academia, which influenced her decision to study sociology at Leiden University, from which she graduated cum laude in 1960. Her master's thesis was on stratification in women's occupations. As an undergraduate, she was a mentor to Princess, later Queen, Beatrix of the Netherlands. The Australian Sociological Association
The Australian Sociological Association (TASA) organisation of Sociology, sociologists throughout Australia. TASA was founded in 1963 as the Sociological Association of Australia and New Zealand (SAANZ). In 1988 with the New Zealand branch splitting off into the Sociological Association of Aotearoa (New Zealand), the association changed its name to TASA. TASA holds an annual conference, and publishes since 1965 the (formerly, Australian and New Zealand) ''Journal of Sociology'', the premiere journal for Australian sociological research. Membership of TASA stood at about 400 in the early 1990s. In 2022, membership is close to 740. Bettina Cass
Bettina Cass (born 1940) is an Australian sociologist and social policy adviser. As of 2020 she is emeritus professor at both the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. After retirement, she continued to coordinate the Higher Research Degree programme at the Social Policy Research Centre, UNSW. Bettina Cass was born in Waverley, New South Wales, Waverley, New South Wales, Australia, in 1940. Cass was elected Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia in 1989. She was appointed Order of Australia, Officer of the Order of Australia in the 1990 Australia Day Honours for "service to social security policy and women's affairs".
