Coquitlam City Council
The Coquitlam City Council is the governing body for the City of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. The council consists of the mayor and eight councillors. The councillors are councilors-at-large elected for the entire city. Municipal elections were held every three years across the Province on the third Saturday of November. However, the BC Government changed the Municipal Elections Act and moved the date to the third Saturday of October. Thus, the election will be on Saturday, October 20, 2018. City Council
A municipal council is the legislative body of a municipality or local government area. Depending on the location and classification of the municipality it may be known as a city council, town council, town board, community council, rural council, village council, or board of aldermen. Coquitlam ( ) is a city in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada. Mainly suburban, Coquitlam is the List of cities in British Columbia, sixth-largest city in the province, with a population of 148,625 in 2021, and one of the 21 municipalities comprising Metro Vancouver. Richard Stewart
Richard Stewart (born 1959) is the mayor for the city of Coquitlam, British Columbia. He was elected to Coquitlam City Council in 2005, and became mayor in 2008. Personal life He was married in 1983 to Anna Rosa, they have four children. Stewart has served his community in the provincial government as MLA for Coquitlam-Maillardville from 2001 to 2005; appointed MLA Responsible for Francophone Affairs, member of the Government Caucus Committee on the Economy, and Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Education. Bonita Zarrillo (born ) is a Canadian politician and is the Member of Parliament for Port Moody—Coquitlam elected in the 2021 Canadian federal election. She had previously narrowly lost the riding in 2019 Canadian federal election, 2019 to the Conservative Party of Canada, Conservative Party's Nelly Shin. Lou Sekora
Louis Sekora (born November 4, 1931) is a Canadian politician. Born in Hafford, Saskatchewan, Sekora served as mayor of Coquitlam, British Columbia, from 1983 to 1997. He was first elected to city council in 1972. A series of acting mayors replaced him, eventually followed by Jon Kingsbury who served from 1998 to 2005. Sekora resigned to run in a 1998 by-election and was elected to the House of Commons of Canada as a candidate of the Liberal Party of Canada, representing the riding of Port Moody—Coquitlam. In the 2000 general election, he lost his seat to Canadian Alliance candidate James Moore. Following his loss, he was appointed as a part-time Citizenship Judge by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. The 2013 British Columbia general election took place on May 14, 2013, to elect the 85 members of the 40th Parliament of British Columbia to the Legislative Assembly in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The labour law concept of leave, specifically paid leave or, in some countries' long-form, a leave of absence, is an authorised prolonged absence from work, for any reason authorised by the workplace.
