The Copa de Competencia (Liga Argentina) was an Argentina, Argentine official list of Argentine football national cups, football cup competition organized by dissident "Liga Argentina de Football", the first professional association in the country established by clubs that had broken up with the Argentine Football Association, official association (AFA). This cup was one of several competitions named "Copa Competencia", with only two editions contested, in 1932 and 1933. Overview The first and second editions were contested by all the 18 teams that also took part in the Argentine Primera División, Primera División championship. The format of the championship was a single-elimination tournament in which teams played each other in one-off matches, with extra time used to decide the winner if necessary. The Liga Argentina de Football (LAF) was a dissident football association of Argentina that organised its own professional championships from 1931 to 1934. The Argentine Football Association (that had remained amateur) did not recognise those championships until both associations were merged in 1934. Currently all the championships organised by the LAF are considered officials by the AFA. Club Estudiantes de La Plata ( lit. "Students from La Plata"), simply referred to as Estudiantes de La Plata , is an Argentine professional sports club based in La Plata. The club's football team currently competes in the Primera División, where it has spent most of its history. The club is a successful team in Argentina. In 1967, Estudiantes was the first team outside the traditional " big five" to win a professional league title. Copa De Competencia (Asociación Amateurs)
The Copa de Competencia was an official Argentine football cup competition contested between 1920 and 1926. It was established by the "Asociación Amateurs de Football", a dissident body formed a year before. The Associación Amateurs organized its own championships until 1926 when it merged to official Asociación Argentina. Unlike the Copa de Competencia Jockey Club, this Cup did not qualify any team to play an international match because it had been created by a dissident league (clubs registered to AFA played against the Uruguayan Football Association champions). The inaugural edition of the cup was contested by 21 clubs from dissident leagues of Buenos aires and Rosario. Copa De Competencia Jockey Club
The Copa de Competencia Jockey Club was an official Argentine football cup competition contested between 1907 and 1933. The winner of this Cup was allowed to play the Tie Cup against the Uruguayan champion of Copa de Competencia. History The Copa de Competencia Jockey Club was first awarded in 1907, being Alumni its first winner. Teams affiliated to the Argentine Football Association and Liga Rosarina de Football were allowed to enter to this competition. Rosarian teams participated until the 1919 edition. From the 1921 edition, only teams from the cities of Buenos Aires and La Plata took part of the competition. After the final edition of the Tie Cup in 1919, the Copa de Competencia Jockey Club was played on four more occasions in 1921, 1925, 1931 and 1936.
