Coolongolook, New South Wales
Coolongolook is a small village in the Mid North Coast region, located within the Mid-Coast Council local government area of New South Wales, Australia. It is situated approximately north of Sydney, on the Pacific Highway. In the 19th-Century gold was mined in the area. At the 2016 census, the town reported a resident population of 392. The median age is 51 and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people account for 11.3% of the population. Coolongolook Public School is located on Lombard Street in the town. In 1994, the Roads & Traffic Authority considered the environmental impact statement of a proposal for a toll road between Coolongolook and Possum Brush. Taree
Taree is a town on the Mid North Coast, New South Wales, Australia. Taree and nearby Cundletown were settled in 1831 by William Wynter. Since then Taree has grown to a population of 26,381, and is the centre of a significant agricultural district. It is 16 km from the Tasman Sea coast, and 317 km north of Sydney. Taree can be reached by train via the North Coast Railway, and by the Pacific Highway. Taree railway station is on the North Coast line of the NSW TrainLink network. The council was formed on 12 May 2016 through a merger of the Gloucester Shire, Great Lakes and City of Greater Taree councils. Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. The highway and its adjoining Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and Brunswick Heads and Pacific Motorway between Sydney and Newcastle links the state capitals of Sydney in New South Wales with Brisbane in Queensland, approximately paralleling the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean coast, via Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Ballina. The Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA) was an agency of the New South Wales Government responsible for major road infrastructure, licensing of drivers, and registration of motor vehicles.
