Conway Publishing, formerly Conway Maritime Press, is an imprint of Bloomsbury Publishing. It is best known for its publications dealing with nautical subjects. History Conway Maritime Press was founded in 1972 as an independent publisher. Richard Endsor
Richard Endsor is a British naval historian and maritime artist. Professional career Richard Endsor trained as a production engineer, before working for BroomWade, an international engineering company, where he became responsible for all aspects of production engineering for the rotary air compressor range. He left in 1981, spending the following decade as an international contract engineer, writing computer programs for the aerospace industry. A lifelong maritime enthusiast, Endsor has devoted many years to researching ships and shipbuilding of the 17th century, culminating in his 2009 publication, ''Restoration Warship: The Design, Construction and Career of a Third Rate of Charles II’s Navy'', which he wrote and illustrated himself. James Taylor (British Author And Historian)
Dr James Taylor MA (Hons), FRSA (born 1963) is a British author, expert on maritime art, and former curator of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, east London. Biography A school trip in the 1970s to Captain James Cook’s Birthplace Museum started a lifelong interest in maritime art and history for James Taylor. Taylor was educated at the Universities of St Andrews and Manchester. Early in his career, Taylor spent time as an auctioneer with Phillips Fine Art Auctioneers, where he was the Victorian paintings specialist. From 1989, he was a curator of paintings, drawings and prints, exhibition organiser and Corporate Membership Manager at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. He began to publish on marine art in the mid 1990s. David John Anthony Stone
David John Anthony Stone (born 1947) is an established military author and historian and a former British army officer. Most of his books on various aspects of military conflict have been written and published since he retired from active military duty in 2002, including several studies on the Prussian and German armies throughout the course of history: an area in which his particular expertise is today acknowledged both in the UK and abroad. Antony Preston (26 February 1938 – 25 December 2004) was an England, English naval history, naval historian and editor, specialising in the area of 19th and 20th-century naval history and warship design. James Lees (born 14 February 1924) was a British maritime expert and writer who was curator of the ship collection and Senior Conservation Officer at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. Biography Born in 1924, James Lees served both in the Royal Navy aboard destroyers and on tankers in the Merchant Navy. In addition to his active service, Lees (often referred to as "Jim") had a passion for ship modelling, leading him to construct and restore many models of historic vessels. Jean Hood is a maritime author and historian. Biography Jean Hood read English Literature at the University of Durham and began her professional career working in the cardboard industry as an advertising copywriter.
