The Iglesia del Carmen de Burgos is a nun's convent in Burgos, Castile and León Castile and León ( es, Castilla y León ; ast-leo, Castiella y Llión ; gl, Castela e León ) is an autonomous community in northwestern Spain. It was created in 1983, eight years after the end of the Francoist regime, by the merging of the ..., Spain. It is situated on the corner of Calle de Covarrubias, del Progreso and Santa Clara. It is a Gothic edifice built mostly in the thirteenth century, at the time of its founding, when it was part of the Monasterio de Santa María la Real de Las Huelgas. It dates to 1234. Burgos () is a city in Spain located in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is the capital and most populated municipality of the province of Burgos. Burgos is situated in the north of the Iberian Peninsula, on the confluence of the Arlanzón (river), Arlanzón river tributaries, at the edge of the Meseta Central , central plateau. The municipality has a population of about 180,000 inhabitants. The Camino de Santiago runs through Burgos. Founded in 884 by the second Count of Castile, Diego Rodríguez Porcelos, Burgos soon became the leading city of the embryonic County of Castile.
