Contemporary Poetry Review
Garrick Davis (born 1971 in Los Angeles) is an American poet and critic. He was Poetry Editor of ''First Things'' magazine from 2020 until 2021. Career Davis is the founding editor of the ''Contemporary Poetry Review'', the largest online archive of poetry criticism in the English-speaking world. His criticism appears regularly in the ''Contemporary Poetry Review''. Davis' work has also been published in the ''New Criterion'', the ''Weekly Standard'' and ''Humanities'' magazine. His poetry has appeared in a number of literary magazines including ''Verse'', ''McSweeney’s'', the ''Alabama Literary Review'', and the ''New York Sun''. He is the historian of the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington DC. He has also served as the NEA's Literature Specialist (2005–2008) as well as the specialist responsible for the NEA's Arts Journalism Institutes and the Poetry Out Loud program. First Things
''First Things'' (''FT'') is an ecumenical and conservative religious journal aimed at "advanc nga religiously informed public philosophy for the ordering of society". The magazine, which focuses on theology, liturgy, church history, religious history, culture, education, society and politics, is inter-denominational and inter-religious, representing a broad intellectual tradition of Christian and Jewish critique of contemporary society. Ernest Hilbert
Ernest Hilbert (born 1970) is an American poet, critic, opera librettist, and editor. Biography Ernest Hilbert was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, and grew up in South Jersey. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in English literature from Rutgers University in 1993. He also received a Master's Degree (1994) and Doctorate (2000) in English Literature from St Catherine's College, Oxford. His doctoral dissertation was entitled "Dark Earth, Dark Heavens: British Apocalyptic Writing in the First World War and its Aftermath." While a student there, he founded the short-lived magazine ''Oxford Quarterly'' (1995–1997). Adam Kirsch
Adam Kirsch (born 1976) is an American poet and literary critic. He is on the seminar faculty of Columbia University's Center for American Studies, and has taught at YIVO. Life and career Kirsch was born in Los Angeles in 1976. He is the son of lawyer, author, and biblical scholar Jonathan Kirsch. He started writing poetry around the age of 14, after encountering the work of T.S. Eliot: "Eliot showed me the possibility of finding in poetry a source of complex intellectual and moral interest." He graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in English in 1997 and began his career as assistant literary editor for ''The New Republic''. Next he worked as the editor for Lipper Publications.
