''Consumed by Your Poison'' is the debut studio album by the Canadian deathcore band Despised Icon. It was released on October 2, 2002 through Galy Records and re-released on April 4, 2006. It is the band's only album with vocalist Marie-Hélène Landry and the only album on which Alex Erian plays drums, as he switched to vocals after the departure of Landry. Critical reception ''Consumed by Your Poison'' generally received positive reviews, Greg Pratt of ''Exclaim!'' magazine wrote mainly praising the vocals work, stating that both Marie-Hélène Landry and Steve Marois "provide a multitude of sounds not usually heard in the realm of oppressive cookie monster vocals." Overall, Pratt exalt the band's musicianship, saying: "brutal, well played and technically adept, this sounds great, looks great." Despised Icon
Despised Icon is a Canadian deathcore band from Montreal, Quebec. Formed in 2002, the band is noted for the talent of its drummer, Alex Pelletier, who makes frequent use of the blasting technique, as well as for its dual lead vocalists; Alex Erian and Steve Marois. Erian makes use of a mid-range growl technique while Marois performs high-pitched fry shrieks, deeper growled vocals and pig squeals. In April 2010, the band disbanded, but officially re-formed six years later in April 2016 after playing reunion shows in 2014 and 2015. Collectively the group has released six full-length albums while succumbing to very few lineup changes throughout their run. Deathcore
Deathcore is an extreme metal subgenre that combines death metal with metalcore. The genre consists of death metal guitar riffs, blast beats, and metalcore breakdowns. Aborted is a Belgian death metal band formed in 1995 in Waregem. The group currently consists of vocalist, founder and only constant member Sven de Caluwé, guitarist Ian Jekelis, bassist Stefano Franceschini and drummer Ken Bedene.
