The Consulate-General of Pakistan, Dubai is a diplomatic mission of Pakistan in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The consulate serves the emirate of Dubai and the five surrounding Northern Emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Fujairah and Ras al-Khaimah. It is one of two Pakistani diplomatic missions in the UAE, the other being the Pakistani embassy in Abu Dhabi, to which it reports. The current Consul-General is Mr. Hassan Afzal Khan. Consular services The Pakistani community in Dubai numbers over 400,000, forming around 13% of the local population and constituting the third largest ethnicity in the city. The Consulate-General oversees Pakistani interests in Dubai and provides various services to Pakistani citizens in the emirate. It is the largest Pakistani consulate in the Middle East. The state emblem of Pakistan was adopted in 1954 and National emblem, symbolizes Pakistan's ideological foundation, the basis of its economy, its cultural heritage and its guiding principles. Design The four components of the emblem are a crescent and star crest above a shield, which is surrounded by a wreath, below which is a scroll. The crest and the green colour of the emblem are traditional symbols of Islam. The quartered shield in the centre shows cotton, wheat, Camellia sinensis, tea and jute, which were the major crops of Pakistan at independence and are shown in a form of shield and signify as the main agricultural base for the importance of the Nation's economy. The floral wreath, surrounding the shield, is ''Jasminum officinale'' (the national flower) and represents the floral designs used in traditional Mughal painting, Mughal art and emphasizes the cultural heritage of Pakistan. Pakistan Establishment Day (colloquially the Fourteenth of August) is a state holiday in Pakistan commemorating the nation's establishment from the United Kingdom on 14 August 1947, establishing the Dominion of Pakistan. Pakistan came into existence as a result of the Pakistan Movement, which aimed for the creation of an independent Muslim state in the north-western and north-eastern regions of British India via partition. The movement was led by the All-India Muslim League under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Pakistan–United Arab Emirates relations refer to bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates . These relations date back to the UAE's formation in 1971, and have since evolved into wide-ranging co-operation in various fields. Pakistan was the first country to extend recognition of the United Arab Emirates, while the UAE has previously been a donor of economic and financial assistance to Pakistan it has happened the other way too.
