Constantin Cantacuzino-Pașcanu
Constantin Cantacuzino-Pașcanu (1856–January 30, 1927) was a Romanian politician. Born into the Moldavian branch of the ''boyar'' Cantacuzino family, his father Lascarache was a ''vornic''. After completing legal studies at the University of Paris, Cantacuzino returned home and joined the Conservative Party. He was first elected deputy in 1891 and senator in 1903. From the time of its founding in 1908, he was a prominent member of the Conservative-Democratic Party. Cantacuzino served as President of the Assembly of Deputies twice: February to April 1907 and December 1912 to January 1914. A number of laws were passed under his watch, including one for organizing the Romanian Army and another ratifying the Treaty of Bucharest. In the summer of 1914, he took part in the meetings of the Crown Council held at Sinaia, arguing for Romania's neutrality in World War I. Sinaia
Sinaia () is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery, in turn, is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. King Carol I of Romania also built his summer residence, Peleș Castle, in Sinaia in the late nineteenth century. Sinaia is about northwest of Ploiești and south of Brașov, in a mountainous area on the Prahova River valley, just east of the Bucegi Mountains. The town's altitude varies between above mean sea level, above sea level. The city is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports, especially downhill skiing. Neuilly-sur-Seine (; literally 'Neuilly on Seine'), also known simply as Neuilly, is a commune in the department of Hauts-de-Seine in France, just west of Paris. Immediately adjacent to the city, the area is composed of mostly select residential neighbourhoods, as well as many corporate headquarters and a handful of foreign embassies. The Allies of World War I, Entente Powers, or Allied Powers were a coalition of countries led by France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States against the Central Powers of Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, and their colonies during the First World War (1914–1918). By the end of the first decade of the 20th century, the major European powers were divided between the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The Triple Entente was made up of France, Britain, and Russia. The Triple Alliance was originally composed of Germany, Austria–Hungary, and Italy, but Italy remained neutral in 1914.
