The Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is a department of the Government of Nova Scotia responsible for overseeing education institutions in the province. Becky Druhan is the current Minister of Education. History In 1949, a minister and deputy minister of education were appointed, and the former Council of Public Instruction (which oversaw the Education Office) was abolished. The Department of Education was established in 1953. It was renamed Department of Education and Culture in 1994 when it took on the responsibilities of the former Department of Tourism and Culture. Wedgeport is a unincorporated place in the Municipality of the District of Argyle in Southern Nova Scotia, Canada. History Wedgeport was settled in 1767 by returning Acadians who had been deported to the Boston area. The village of Wedgeport was formally called Tusket Wedge, and was also at one time called the "Chebec". In 1909 by an Act of Parliament, it was changed to Wedgeport. École secondaire de Par-en-Bas (commonly known as Par-en-bas, PEB or ESPB) is a Canadian French high school located in Tusket, Yarmouth County in the province of Nova Scotia, for Acadian students.
