Conscience Records
Conscience Records was a record company in New York that existed between 1995 and 1998. History Founded in 1995, Conscience Records signed east coast rap-metal outfit Powerman 5000, putting out their debut album ''The Blood Splat Rating System''. Other artists included El Dopa, Acumen Nation, Grind and Mocean Worker. Powerman 5000 was signed to DreamWorks in 1996, where they re-released the ''Bloodsplat'' album as ''Mega! Kung Fu Radio'', remastered and with two new songs added and new artwork (including the Conscience logo). El Dopa recorded, but never released a follow-up album to their debut called ''United In States Of Narcolepsy''. Krishna Venkatesh, singer and founder of El Dopa, currently lives in New Jersey. Powerman 5000 (also known as PM5K) is an American rock band formed in 1991. The group has released ten albums, gaining its highest level of commercial success with 1999's ''Tonight the Stars Revolt!'', which reached number 29 on the ''Billboard'' 200 while spawning the singles "When Worlds Collide" and "Nobody's Real". Frontman Spider One, younger brother of fellow metal musician Rob Zombie, has been the only consistent member of the lineup since the band's formation. Acumen Nation
Acumen Nation is an American industrial rock band from Chicago, Illinois. History Early career Formed in 1988 as Acumen by Jason Novak and Ethan Novak, the band released several cassette demos before self-releasing the CD demo '' Transmissions from Eville'' in 1994. Along with bassist Greg Lopez, they put the record out themselves under the name Robot Records. During shows for this period, the band added Jamie Duffy as a guitarist/engineer, and shortly afterwards the four-piece band was noticed by independent industrial label Fifth Colvmn Records, who signed the band and reissued '' Transmissions from Eville'' worldwide. Mocean Worker
Mocean Worker (pronounced "motion worker") is the recording alias of jazz musician and producer Adam Dorn. Biography Philadelphia native Adam Dorn is the son of renowned jazz and R'n'B producer Joel Dorn. He grew up around the jazz and R&B discs his father produced for Atlantic Records in the '60s and '70s. As a 15-year-old, he sent a fan letter to bassist Marcus Miller. When Miller responded, inviting Dorn to come by the studio, one visit turned into three years hanging around artists David Sanborn, Luther Vandross and Miles Davis. Dorn is a bass player and vocalist. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Dorn adopted the Mocean Worker moniker as a DJ of drum 'n' bass music. DreamWorks Records (often referred in copyright notices as SKG Music, LLC) was an American record label founded in 1996 by David Geffen, Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg as a subsidiary of DreamWorks Pictures. The label operated until 2003 when it was sold to Universal Music Group. The label itself also featured a Nashville, Tennessee-based subsidiary, DreamWorks Nashville, which specialized in country music and was shut down in 2006. The company's logo was designed by Roy Lichtenstein and was his last commission before his death in 1997. Island Records is a multinational record label owned by Universal Music Group. It was founded in 1959 by Chris Blackwell, Graeme Goodall, and Leslie Kong in Jamaica, and was eventually sold to PolyGram in 1989.
