Conrad James
Conrad D. James (born 1974) is a politician and scientist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a member of the Republican Party. Early life and education James was born in Columbus, Ohio, where he graduated from Walnut Ridge High School. He received a B.A. '' summa cum laude'' in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1996. He went on to earn a M.S. (1999) and Ph.D. (2002) from Cornell University in applied and engineering physics. His doctoral dissertation focused on the fabrication of microelectrode arrays to monitor the electrical activity of in vitro neural networks as a function of network architecture. Career Sandia National Laboratories Since 2002, James has been employed as a researcher at the Sandia National Laboratories, where he develops biosensors. Elizabeth 'Liz' L. Thomson (born 1960 or 1961) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the New Mexico House of Representatives representing District 24 since January 15, 2017 and previously from January 15, 2013 to January 15, 2015. Microelectrode arrays (MEAs) (also referred to as multielectrode arrays) are devices that contain multiple (tens to thousands) microelectrodes through which neural signals are obtained or delivered, essentially serving as neural interfaces that connect neurons to electronic circuitry. There are two general classes of MEAs: implantable MEAs, used ''in vivo'', and non-implantable MEAs, used ''in vitro''. Theory Neurons and muscle cells create ion currents through their membranes when excited, causing a change in voltage between the inside and the outside of the cell. When recording, the electrodes on an MEA transduce the change in voltage from the environment carried by ions into currents carried by electrons (electronic currents). Pietro Vichi "Pete" Domenici (May 7, 1932 – September 13, 2017) was an American attorney and politician who served as a United States Senator from New Mexico from 1973 to 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he served six terms in the Senate, making him the longest-tenured U.S. Senator in the state's history. As of 2022, Domenici is the last Republican to be elected to the Senate from New Mexico. He was succeeded by Democratic U.S. Representative Tom Udall. Jesse Francis "Jeff" Bingaman Jr. (born October 3, 1943) is an American politician who served as a United States Senator from New Mexico from 1983 to 2013, for 5 terms. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as Chairman of Committee Outreach for the Senate Democratic Caucus. Previously, Bingaman was Attorney General of New Mexico from 1979 to 1983. White blood cells, also called leukocytes or leucocytes, are the cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders.
