Conor O'Brien ( ga, Conchubhar Ó Briain) (died 1603) of Leameneagh was an Irish nobleman and land-owner in County Clare. Life He was the son of Donough O'Brien and his wife Slaney McNamara. Hugh Roe O'Donnell raided Thomond in 1599 and again in 1600 to punish the O'Briens for their adherence to the English and to avenge himself on the family of Murrough O'Brien, 4th Baron Inchiquin who, with Donogh O'Brien, 4th Earl of Thomond had invaded Tír Chonaill in 1597 under Sir Conyers Clifford. In his first foray into the territory, Hugh sent his lieutenant Aodh Maguire with a detachment to scour the lands of Kilnaboy where he wounded and captured Conor O'Brien, and brought him back to Inchiquin Castle which was given over to Maguire. Conor O'Brien ( ga, Conchubhar Ó Briain) of Leameneagh (1617–1651) was a Cavalier, Royalist Commander in County Clare during the Irish Confederate Wars. Life He was the son of Donough O'Brien (b. 1595), Sir Donough O'Brien (1595-1637) and his wife Honora Wingfield, and was the head of the Leameneagh branch of the O'Briens with estates centred around Leameneagh and Dromoland. At the outbreak of the Irish Rebellion of 1641, his relative Murrough O'Brien, 1st Earl of Inchiquin deputised him to advance the Royalist cause in County Clare and to maintain order amongst the discontented factions, while he himself was engaged in the south of the kingdom in co-operating with his father-in-law, William St Leger, Sir William St Leger, to oppose the Confederate Ireland, Confederate armies. Edward Conor Marshall O'Brien (3 November 1880 – 18 April 1952) was an Irish aristocrat and intellectual. His views were republican and nationalist. He was also owner and captain of one of the first boats to sail under the tri-colour of the Irish Free State. He was the first amateur Irish sailor to sail around the world. O'Brien was a grandson of the Young Irelander William Smith O'Brien, and learned Irish. Conor Myles John O'Brien, 18th Baron Inchiquin (born 17 July 1943) is an English-born Irish clan chief and holder of an Irish peerage. Although his family's ancestral Irish residence has been sold, he remains a landowner in County Clare. Conor O'Brien (born 30 May 1985) is an Irish hurler who played as a corner back for the Tipperary senior team from 2007 until 2016. O'Brien made his first appearance for the team during the 2007 National League and has become a regular player over the last few seasons. Youth career Conor O'Brien won a State Cup as a Boys-Under-10 player with the Long Island Junior Soccer League's Terryville Fire in 1999. Conor O'Brien (born 2 February 1996) is an Irish former rugby union player who played for Leinster. GAA and family Growing up in Westmeath, O'Brien played more Gaelic sports than rugby union until well into his teens. He represented Westmeath at hurling up to under-16 level, and represented Westmeath in Gaelic football all the way to Minor level. His father Garrett was captain of the Offaly team which won the 1988 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship, the only such victory in the county's history.
