Connacht Senior Football Championship
The Connacht Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the counties of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as counties London and New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht Senior Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. A series of games are played during the summer months and the final is played in June or July. The winner progresses directly to the All-Ireland Super 8s, while losing teams progress to the All-Ireland Qualifiers (before 2001 the All-Ireland was a straight knock-out format meaning all losing teams were eliminated after a single defeat). Galway are Connacht's most successful county with 9 All Ireland titles. Roscommon have won the competition 24 times, most recently in 2019. 2022 Connacht Senior Football Championship
The 2022 Connacht Senior Football Championship was the 2022 iteration of the Connacht Senior Football Championship organised by Connacht GAA. London and New York were withdrawn from the 2020 and 2021 Connacht championships as part of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Gaelic games, due to international travel restrictions, but both returned for the 2022 season. Galway won the competition. Teams The 2022 Connacht championship is contested by the five counties in the Irish province of Connacht and the two foreign-based teams of London and New York. Mayo County Football Team
The Mayo county football team (;) represents Mayo in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Mayo GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Connacht Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. 1994 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 1994 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 108th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 15 May 1994 and ended on 18 September 1994. Derry entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Down in the Ulster quarter-final in what is regarded as one of the greatest games of all time. On 18 September 1994, Down won the championship following a 1–12 to 0–13 defeat of Dublin in the All-Ireland final. This was their fifth All-Ireland title and their first in three championship seasons. Dublin's Charlie Redmond was the championship's top scorer. Andy Moran
Andy Moran (born 2 November 1983) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player for Ballaghaderreen and the Mayo county team. He made his 150th league and championship appearance for Mayo in June 2017, his 13th season. Playing career Although Ballaghaderreen town was transferred from County Mayo to County Roscommon under the Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898, the GAA club competes in Mayo and many of its players declare for that county. As in this case, Moran chose to play for Mayo, this decision has been received negatively from Roscommon GAA supporters. The Leitrim county football team ( ) represents Leitrim in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Leitrim GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The 2001 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 115th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 6 May 2001 and ended on 23 September 2001. The format of the championship saw the biggest change in over 100 years with the introduction of the All-Ireland qualifiers. This system saw teams who were defeated in the provincial championships enter a secondary championship and the chance to qualify for the All-Ireland series. The Leinster Championship abandoned its group stage and returned to a straight knockout system. London declined to field a team in the championship due to an outbreak of foot and mouth disease.
