Congressional Soccer Match
The Congressional Soccer Match (CSM) is an annual event held in Washington, D.C. that features Members of Congress, Hill staffers, corporations, and community members to participate in a soccer tournament. The event consists of an Embassy tournament, the Congressional Soccer Match, and a staffer tournament. The event is hosted by the United States Soccer Foundation. As one of the Foundation’s annual charity events, all proceeds from the Match go toward the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s proven programs. As of 2023, the defending champions are the Republicans. Penalty Kick (association Football)
A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines. Procedure The ball is placed on the penalty mark, regardless of where in the penalty area the foul occurred. The player taking the kick must be identified to the referee. Michael John Gallagher (born March 3, 1984) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for since 2017. His district covers the state's northeastern part. Anthony E. Gonzalez (born September 18, 1984) is an American politician and former professional football player. He served as the U.S. representative for from 2019 to 2023. He played college football at Ohio State University, where he studied philosophy. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the final pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Audi Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Buzzard Point in Washington, D.C. It is the home stadium for both of Washington, DC’s professional soccer teams, D.C. United in Major League Soccer and Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League. The stadium seats 20,000 people. Previously, D.C. Devon McTavish (born August 8, 1984 in Winchester, Virginia) is a retired American soccer player. He played his entire professional career from 2006 to 2011 for D.C. United in Major League Soccer.
