Conglomerate (record Label)
Conglomerate is a record label founded by Busta Rhymes. The label was established in 1994 as Flipmode, the name Conglomerate was later adopted in 2010. Company history Elektra (1996–2000) Soon after the Elektra deal was done, Busta obtained his own label which was to serve as an imprint to Elektra. At the time, his new artist Rah Digga signed to Elektra, along with her cousin Rampage. Elektra would allow Busta to sign these acts to his Flipmode Entertainment. Under the terms of the deal, Busta was responsible for putting their albums together and they would fund, promote and distribute the releases from the label. The first release from Flipmode was Busta Rhymes' ''The Coming'', which came in 1996, during the time that the east coast was beginning to gain popularity again after the rise of the west coast. Trevor George Smith Jr. (born May 20, 1972), known professionally as Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the moniker Busta Rhymes, after NFL and CFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes. Blackstreet (often stylized as BLACKstreet) is an American R&B group founded in 1991 by record producers Chauncey "Black" Hannibal, and Teddy "Street" Riley. Shamele Mackie (born March 5, 1978), known professionally as Papoose (), is an American rapper. Well known for his freestyles and prolific mixtape output, Papoose has released four studio albums and 29 mixtapes since 1998. Born in New York, he began rapping in the 1990s, making his first appearance on Kool G Rap's 1998 album ''Roots of Evil''. Papoose produced and distributed his own mixtapes during the early 2000s, eventually signing a $1.5 million contract with Jive Records.
