Confidential Lady (horse)
Confidential Lady (foaled 4 April 2003 – ) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a juvenile in 2005 she showed high-class form, winning four of her seven races including the Star Stakes and the Prix du Calvados. In the following year she finished second in the 1000 Guineas before recording her biggest win in the Prix de Diane. She failed to win in four subsequent races although she ran second in the Premio Lydia Tesio and was not disgraced when finishing fifth in the Champion Stakes. She has had some success as a broodmare. Background Confidential Lady is a bay mare bred and owned by the Newmarket-based Cheveley Park Stud. She was trained throughout her racing career by Mark Prescott at the Heath House stable in Newmarket and ridden in all but one of her races by Seb Sanders. Singspiel (horse)
Singspiel (25 February 1992 – 1 July 2010) was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire best known for a series of wins in major international races in 1996 and 1997. In a racing career which lasted from September 1994 until August 1997 he won nine of his twenty races and finished second on eight occasions. After showing good, but unexceptional form in his first two seasons he emerged as a world class performer in 1996 when he won the Canadian International Stakes and Japan Cup and was named U.S. Champion Male Turf Horse. In the following season he added victories in the Dubai World Cup, Coronation Cup and International Stakes before his career was ended by injury. After his retirement from racing he had considerable success as a sire of winners before his death in 2010. Catterick Racecourse
Catterick Racecourse, sometimes known as Catterick Bridge Racecourse, is a thoroughbred horse racing venue one mile north west of Catterick in North Yorkshire, England, near the hamlet of Catterick Bridge. The first racing at Catterick was held in 1783. The track is left-handed, sharp and undulating, just over a mile round, with a 3 furlong run-in. The gravel subsoil means the going is usually good. It has been said that "it is not one of the North's most glamorous fixtures". The Catterick Sunday Market, held on the racecourse grounds, is the largest Sunday Market in the North of England. The going is determined by the amount of moisture in the ground and is assessed by an official steward on the day of the race. Hamilton Park Racecourse
Hamilton Park racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue in Hamilton, Scotland to the south of Glasgow. It is a flat racing venue, with a season which runs from May to September. The very first race to take place in Hamilton was in 1782 at a site in Chatelherault, situated just outside the town. By 1785, the course had three racing fixtures and staged jump racing until 1907 when the course was closed. In 1926, racing moved to their current location on Bothwell Road having raised £100,000 to revive racing. The racecourse opened with a two-day meeting held on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th July 1926, with 30,000 racegoers attending on the Friday, which was greatly exceeded on the Saturday. The revival of racing at Hamilton Park made it one of the newest courses in the country and became the second course in Lanarkshire - with Lanark Racecourse later closing in 1977. Odds provide a measure of the likelihood of a particular outcome. They are calculated as the ratio of the number of events that produce that outcome to the number that do not. Odds are commonly used in gambling and statistics. Affirmed (February 21, 1975 – January 12, 2001) was a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who is the eleventh winner of the American Triple Crown. Affirmed was well known for his famous rivalry with Alydar, whom he met ten times, including coming second in each of the three 1978 Triple Crown races. After Affirmed won the Triple Crown, there was a 37-year wait until American Pharoah swept the series in 2015. Affirmed won fourteen Grade One stakes races over his career and was a champion each of the three years he raced. Dar Re Mi (foaled 2005 in Great Britain) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse. In a racing career lasting from 2007 to 2010 she won six times, including three at Group One level. Since retiring from racing she has become a very successful broodmare. Background Dar Re Mi is a daughter of Singspiel out of the mare Darara.
