Confession De Minuit
''Confession de minuit'', written by Georges Duhamel in 1920, is the first volume in the five-part series '' Vie et aventures de Salavin''. In 1950, this novel was included in the list of the '' Grand prix des Meilleurs romans du demi-siècle.'' Summary The 30-year-old Louis Salavin lives in the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève quarter and works as a clerk in Paris. One morning, unable to control a strange impulse, he touches the earlobe of Mr Sureau, the chairman of his company. Shortly after this senseless act, Salavin loses his job and slowly becomes dispirited, apathetic, and disgusted with himself. He consequently stays in his room in the modest apartment, located in rue du Pot-de-Fer, which he shares with his mother, who is attentive and affectionate to him. Georges Duhamel
Georges Duhamel (; ; 30 June 1884 – 13 April 1966) was a French author, born in Paris. Duhamel trained as a doctor, and during World War I was attached to the French Army. In 1920, he published '' Confession de minuit'', the first of a series featuring the anti-hero Salavin. In 1935, he was elected as a member of the Académie française. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature twenty-seven times. He was also the father of the musicologist and composer Antoine Duhamel. Biography Georges Duhamel was born in the 13th arrondissement of Paris on 30 June 1884. He was the third child of a family which struggled to survive on the income of his unstable father. The Fall (Camus Novel)
''The Fall'' (french: La Chute) is a philosophical novel by Albert Camus. First published in 1956, it is his last complete work of fiction. Set in Amsterdam, ''The Fall'' consists of a series of dramatic monologues by the self-proclaimed "judge-penitent" Jean-Baptiste Clamence, as he reflects upon his life to a stranger. In what amounts to a confession, Clamence tells of his success as a wealthy Parisian defense lawyer who was highly respected by his colleagues. His crisis, and his ultimate "fall" from grace, was meant to invoke, in secular terms, the fall of man from the Garden of Eden. Subtitle (titling)
In books and other works, the subtitle is an explanatory title added by the author to the title proper of a work. Another kind of subtitle, often used in the past, is the alternative title, also called alternate title, traditionally denoted and added to the title with the alternative conjunction "or", hence its appellation..
