Concepció Ferrer Casals (born 27 January 1938) is a Spanish philologist, teacher and politician, the Second Deputy Defender of the People (Spain), Defender of the People of Spain since 2012. Biography With a Licentiate (degree)#Spain, licentiate in Romance Philology from the University of Barcelona, since the 1970s Concepció Ferrer has lived in Figueres, where she has been a professor of contemporary literature. In 1977 she joined the Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC). In the 1979 Spanish local elections, municipal elections of 1979 she was elected councilor of the municipality of Figueres. Later, she obtained the Parliament of Catalonia, Catalonian Parliament seat for the constituency of Girona when the 1980 Catalan regional election, first elections were held after the approval of the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 1979, Statute of Catalan Autonomy, renewing her mandate in 1984, both times within the candidacy of Convergence and Union (CiU). Ripoll
Ripoll () is the capital of the ''comarca'' of Ripollès, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is located on confluence of the Ter River and its tributary Freser, next to the Pyrenees near the French border. The population was 11,057 in 2009. The first traces of humans inhabiting the area date from the Bronze Age and can be seen in form of dolmens such as those found in ''El Sot de Dones Mortes'' or in ''Pardinella''. This area was later used by peoples from the Atlantic culture to store bronze weapons and as a passway from the Catalan Central Depression to the Pyrenees. The area also has tombs from the late Roman occupation age and some belonging to the Visigoths. It has a famous Benedictine monastery built in the Romanesque style, Santa Maria de Ripoll, founded by the count Wilfred the Hairy in 879.
