C# and Visual Basic (.NET) are the two main programming languages used to program on the .NET framework. Language history C# and VB.NET are very different languages in syntax and history. As the name suggests, the C# syntax is based on the core C programming language originally developed by Dennis Ritchie at Bell Labs (AT&T) in the 1970s.
