Company One
Company One is a non-profit theatre company located in the Boston Center for the Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The company is known for providing adventurous, race conscious, and socially aware theatre programming in Boston. Company One has produced over 50 plays. Mission Company One Theatre's mission is to "build community at the intersection of art and social change." Company history Company One was started by six individuals who founded a theatre company called "Island Project" in Great Diamond Island, off the coast of Portland, Maine. They went on to found Company One in the fall of 1998. In 2005, the company created ARTiculation, a touring poetry-slam turned performance piece. Young Jean Lee is an American playwright, director, and filmmaker. She was the Artistic Director of Young Jean Lee's Theater Company, a not-for-profit theater company dedicated to producing her work. Young Jean Lee performed the solo role, accompanied by the band Future Wife. ''We're Gonna Die'' was produced at Lincoln Center Theater’s Claire Tow Theater for four performances from September 12 to 15 in 2012. The Tiger Lillies
The Tiger Lillies are a cult British musical trio formed in 1989 by singer-songwriter Martyn Jacques. Described as the forefathers of Brechtian Punk Cabaret, the Tiger Lillies are well known for their unique sound and style which merges "the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin with the savage edge of punk". History The band's name is rumoured to have been inspired by a murdered Soho sex worker called Lillie who used to dress up in animal print. Jacques, however, has stated that he named the band after a painting he had on his wall. The band formed in 1989 when Martyn Jacques placed an ad on Loot looking for a drummer and a bass player for a new band. ''Shockheaded Peter'' is a 1998 musical using the popular German children's book ''Struwwelpeter'' (1845) by Heinrich Hoffmann as its basis. Created by Julian Bleach, Anthony Cairns, Julian Crouch, Graeme Gilmour, Tamzin Griffin, Jo Pocock, Phelim McDermott, Michael Morris and The Tiger Lillies (Martyn Jacques, Adrian Huge and Adrian Stout) the production combines elements of pantomime and puppetry with musical versions of the poems with the songs generally following the text but with a somewhat darker tone.
