Les Compagnons de Saint-Laurent was a theatre company that was founded in August 1937 at Collège de Saint-Laurent in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, by , , and Léonide Lavinge. According to The Canadian Encyclopedia it was the " ..most influential theatrical company in the history of Québec". The company dissolved in 1951. History Financial support at the debut of the company was provided by Léonide (Bobby) Lavinge, the father of François Lavinge, one of the original members of the company. Although his father did not support his son's choice of profession as an actor (and disinherited him for this reason), he still provided considerable financial support of the company. Among others, he bought the property and the farm which served as a rehearsal place for the company. According to his son, the building was cold and difficult to heat in the winter and the members of the company did not like those conditions. The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM) is a theatre company and venue located on rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in , it launched with the classic play ''L'Avare'' by Molière. Initially located at the Gesù (1951–1958), it subsequently moved to the Orpheum, then after 1966 it transferred to the salle Port-Royal at Place des Arts and remained there until 1972. The Théâtre du Rideau Vert is a theatre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at 4664 Saint Denis Street in the borough of Le Plateau-Mont-Royal. Founded in 1949 by Yvette Brind'Amour and Mercedes Palomino, the Théâtre du Rideau Vert was the first professional French-language theatre in Canada. Jean-Claude Labrecque, (June 19, 1938 – May 31, 2019) was a director and cinematographer who learned the basics of filmmaking at the National Film Board of Canada. Career Jean-Claude Labrecque was born in Quebec City, Quebec, and trained as a camera assistant at the NFB. Jean-Pierre Masson (August 25, 1918 - March 11, 1995) was a Canadian film and television actor, best known for his long-running television role as Séraphin Poudrier in ''Les Belles Histoires des pays d'en haut''."Actor Jean-Pierre Masson dies". Charlotte Boisjoli (June 12, 1923 – January 30, 2001) was an actress, director, writer and educator in Quebec, Canada. She was born in Quebec City and first performed with the theatre group Compagnons de Saint-Laurent. She earned a master's degree in musicology. Boisjoli appeared in the television series '. During the 1950s, she provided the voice for the character Pépinot on the television show '' Pepinot and Capucine''. She also performed on stage and on the radio. She was co-founder and director of the École de théâtre ABC. She taught dramatic arts at various schools. In 1987, she became secretary general for the . Boisjoli died of cancer at the age of 77 in Montreal. Her memorial is located at the Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery. Her son was a Quebec radio and television personality. Jean Hotte-Duceppe (1923–1990) was a stage and television actor from Montreal, Quebec. Born on 25 October 1923 to a family of local shopkeepers in working-class Montreal, Jean Duceppe came to the theatre with no formal training and was completely self-taught. He was popular from the late 1940s until his death at the age of 67 on 7 December 1990. His career debut was at the Arcade, performing seven days a week. Between 1941 and 1947, he performed in 34 different plays. He appeared in more than 160 plays on radio, on television, and in films.
