Communities Of Argos
The Municipality of Argos was a municipality of Argolis, Argolis prefecture which was established by the Kapodistrias reform, Kapodistrias Plan from the merging of older communities of the area, which later formed the municipal districts of the municipality. The municipality operated in the period 1999-2010 when it was abolished with the implementation of Kallikratis Plan and joined the new municipality Argos-Mykines as municipal unit. It was located in the northwest of the prefecture and covered a large part of the Argolic plain, up to the mountain Artemisio. It bordered with the municipalities of Koutsopodi, Lyrkeia, Midea, Greece, Midea, Lerna, Mycenae, Nea Kios and the community of Achladokampos. The municipality had a population of 29,228 inhabitants according to the 2001 census and was the largest municipality in population of Argolida. Argolis
Argolis or Argolida ( el, Αργολίδα , ; , in ancient Greek and Katharevousa) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Peloponnese, situated in the eastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula and part of the tripoint area of Argolis, Arcadia and Corinthia. Much of the territory of this region is situated in the Argolid Peninsula. Geography Most arable land lies in the central part of Argolis. Its primary agricultural resources are oranges and olives. Argos-Mykines ( el, Άργος-Μυκήνες) is a municipality in the Argolis regional unit, Peloponnese, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the city of Argos. The municipality has an area of 1002.508 km2. The mayor is Dimitris Kamposos, who retains his title since the formation of the municipality, having won the local elections of 2011, 2014 and 2019. The Kallikratis Programme ( el, Πρόγραμμα Καλλικράτης, Prógramma Kallikrátis) is the common name of Greek law 3852/2010 of 2010, a major administrative reform in Greece. It brought about the second major reform of the country's administrative divisions following the 1997 Kapodistrias reform. Lerna
In classical Greece, Lerna ( el, Λέρνη) was a region of springs and a former lake near the east coast of the Peloponnesus, south of Argos. Even though much of the area is marshy, Lerna is located on a geographically narrow point between mountains and the sea, along an ancient route from the Argolid to the southern Peloponnese; this location may have resulted in the importance of the settlement. Nea Kios ( el, Νέα Κίος), is a small town and former municipality in Argolis, Peloponnese (region), Peloponnese, Greece.
