Communicate (TV Series)
''Communicate'' is a Canadian game show television series which aired on CBC Television from 1966 to 1967. Premise This series was inspired by the American game show ''Password''. Each contestant attempted to determine the name of an object or person based on a single-word clue provided by a teammate. The game was played between two teams, each team consisting of two people where one of those people was a celebrity. The competing pair of teams played up to three rounds, where the winning team remained on the show to play a new team. Contestants who were not celebrities received cash prizes when they won. Celebrity guests included Frances Hyland, Jane Morgan, Cliff Robertson, Jimmy Tapp, Bill and Marilyn Walker and Paxton Whitehead. Tom Harvey hosted and moderated the game until December 1966 when he was replaced by Bill Walker. ''Password'' is an American television game show in which two teams, each composed of a celebrity player and a contestant, attempt to convey mystery words to each other using only single-word clues, in order to win cash prizes. The show was created by Bob Stewart and originally produced by Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions. It aired on CBS from 1961 to 1967, and ABC from 1971 to 1975. The original host was Allen Ludden, who had previously been well known as the host of the ''G.E. College Bowl''. Two revivals later aired on NBC: '' Password Plus'' from 1979 to 1982, and '' Super Password'' from 1984 to 1989, followed by a primetime version, ''Million Dollar Password'', on CBS from 2008 to 2009. Frances Hyland
Frances Hyland (April 25, 1927 – July 11, 2004) was a Canadian stage, film and television actress. She earned recognition for roles on stage (including ten seasons with Stratford Festival) and screen (including her performance as Nanny Louisa on ''Road to Avonlea''). Honoured with the Governor General's Performing Arts Award in 1994, she was called "the first lady of Canadian theatre". Early life and education Hyland was born in 1927 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, a small town south-west of Swift Current, to Jessie (née Worden), a teacher, and Thomas Hyland, a salesman. Jane Morgan (born Florence Catherine Currier; May 3, 1924) is an American former singer of traditional pop. Morgan initially found success in France and the UK before achieving recognition in the US, receiving six Music recording certification, gold records. She was a frequent nightclub and Broadway theatre, Broadway performer, and also appeared numerous times on American television, both as a singer and as a dramatic performer. Clifford Parker Robertson III (September 9, 1923 – September 10, 2011) was an American actor whose career in film and television spanned over six decades. Robertson portrayed a young John F. Jimmy Tapp
James Anthony Tapp (April 18, 1918 – November 20, 2004) was a Canadian broadcaster. He began his career with closed-circuit radio broadcasts aboard in World War II. He later became a radio announcer in Montreal. He went on to host a number of early CBC Television shows, including ''Flashback'' and ''The Tapp Room''. During the 1960s, he was host of CTV's game show '' A Kin to Win'' and the voice for Hercules in the animated series ''The Mighty Hercules''. He was inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame on November 29, 2004. Francis Edward Paxton Whitehead (born 17 October 1937) is an English actor, theatre director and playwright. He was nominated for a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for his performance as Pellinore in the 1980 revival of ''Camelot''. He has had many Broadway roles.
