The INSEE code is a numerical indexing code used by the French National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) to identify various entities, including communes and ''départements''. They are also used as national identification numbers given to people. Created under Vichy Although today this national identification number is used by social security in France and is present on each person's social security card (''carte Vitale''), it was originally created under Vichy France under the guise of the Registration Number to the National Directory of Identification of Physical People (''Numéro d'inscription au répertoire des personnes physiques'', NIRPP or simply NIR). Bauzy () is a commune in the Loir-et-Cher department in the Centre region of central France France (), officially the French Republic ( ), is a country primarily located in Western Europe. Geography Bauzy is located in the heart of Sologne some 20 km south-east of Blois, 40 km south-west of Orléans, and 40 km north-east of Vierzon. Access to the commune is by the D60 road from Bracieux in the north-west which passes through the heart of the commune and the village and continues south-east to Vernou-en-Sologne. Avaray () is a Commune in France, commune in the Loir-et-Cher Departments of France, department in central France. History Avaray is a French territorial title belonging to a family some of whose members have been conspicuous in history. The Béarnaise family named Besiade moved into the Provinces of France, province of Orléanais in the 17th century, and there acquired the estate of Avaray. In 1667 Theophile de Besiade, marquis d'Avaray, obtained the office of grand bailiff of Orleans, which was held by several of his descendants after him. Claude Antoine de Besiade, marquis d'Avaray, was deputy for the bailliage of Orleans in the states-general of 1789, and proposed a Declaration of the Duties of Man as a pendant to the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen; he subsequently became a lieutenant-general in 1814, a peer of France in 1815, and duc d'Avaray in 1818. Authon, Loir-et-Cher
Authon ( or ) is a commune in the Loir-et-Cher department in the region of Centre-Val de Loire, France, next to Vendôme. Population Economy Economic activities are mainly agricultural, with some services including tourism (there are three castles, nature trails and a popular restaurant). A couple of streams run through the village's territory, including one facetiously named the Danube. Personalities The village has supplied a resistance hero, François de Brantes, and, in his daughter Anne-Aymone, a wife to former president Valéry Giscard d'Estaing (d.2020). Artins
Artins () is a commune in the Loir-et-Cher department in central France. Population History The name derives from the Gallo-Roman ''Artinis''. The historic Romanesque church, dedicated to Saint Julien (of Le Mans), at a ford in the Loir river, fell into ruins when development occurred nearer a departmental route at a site known as Le Plat d'Etain. It has since been restored by local initiative for cultural purposes. Popular tradition would have it that Artins is older than Le Mans (the ecclesiastical centre of the diocese to which Artins formerly belonged) and that St. Julien evinced a dragon who had taken up residence in a temple (which was replaced by the former church). A pilgrimage celebrating this feat survived into the mid-twentieth century. The hillside is marked by a former ''Commanderie'' and the manor of Rocheturpin (which lost its Romanesque chapel in the late nineteenth century).
