Ailly-le-Haut-Clocher
Ailly-le-Haut-Clocher is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography The commune liest about southwest of Abbeville, at the junction of the national road N1 and the departmental road D32. Part of the old region of Ponthieu, the town is situated on a large plateau. Only the slightest undulation of the land is noticeable. 3 neighbourhoods can be distinguished: Ailly (the "centre") and the former hamlets of ''Famechon'' and ''Alliel''. History The place name ''Ailly'' comes from the name "Alius", a Gallo-Roman, whose farm was located at the site of the present cemetery, on the national road. Aerial photography can pick out the farm boundaries. “Haut-Clocher” refers to the “high steeple”, because of the arrow-shaped characteristic of the church spire, that was used as an observation and triangulation point by the cartographers in charge of creating the Cassini maps of France in 1760. *Ailly’s former names were: Asliacum, Alliacus ...

Saint-Riquier
Saint-Riquier () is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography The commune is situated northeast of Abbeville, on the D925 and D32 crossroads. Abbey Saint-Riquier (originally ''Centula'' or ''Centulum'') gained fame for its abbey, founded about 625 by Riquier (Richarius), son of the governor of the town, when the town was within Austrasia in the Merovingian Kingdom. It was enriched by King Dagobert I and prospered in the early 9th century Carolingian Empire under the abbacy of Angilbert, son-in-law of Charlemagne. In the year 881 Northmen burned the abbey and destroyed much of what was Centula. The monastery was rebuilt in the Middle Ages on a smaller scale. The abbey was part of the diocese of Amiens in Ponthieu. The early counts of Ponthieu originally were styled ''advocatus'' of the abbey of Saint Riquier and "castellan" of Abbeville. Long () is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. Geography Long is situated on the D32 and the D112 crossroads, some southeast of Abbeville in a part of the valley of the Somme that is filled by lakes and ponds.
