The Communauté d'agglomération Provence-Alpes or Provence-Alpes Agglomération is a French agglomeration community, created on 21 October, 2016 (with effect from 1 January 2017), located in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Digne-les-Bains
Digne-les-Bains (; Occitan: ''Dinha dei Banhs''), or simply and historically Digne (''Dinha'' in the classical norm or ''Digno'' in the Mistralian norm), is the prefecture of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of Southeastern France. As of 2018, the commune had a population of 16,333. Its inhabitants are called ''Dignois'' (masculine) and ''Dignoises'' (feminine). Geography Site and location Located on the edge of the and on both sides of the river Bléone, which flows southwest through the middle of the commune and crosses the town; it forms part of the commune's northeastern and southwestern borders. Digne-les-Bains is the capital of the Department of Alpes de Haute-Provence. Barles
Barles () is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of south-eastern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Barlatans'' or ''Barlatanes'' in French. Geography The village is located at an altitude of 987 m in the Bès valley some 30 km north by north-east of Digne-les-Bains and 30 km south by south-east of Gap. Access to the commune is by the D900A road from Verdaches in the east which passes through the village and continues south to Esclangon. The D7 road also comes from Auzet in the north-east and joins the D900A on the eastern border of the commune. Relief Barles is very compartmentalized, divided into valleys separated by high mountains and steep ridges. The Bès Valley links these valleys but, cut by Water gaps, it was not a means of travel for many decades and most travel was on foot and mule along mule tracks via the heights. L'Escale (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)
L'Escale (; oc, L'Escala) is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France. It is located on the eastern bank of the Durance opposite Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban. Geography The Bléone forms the commune's southern border, then flows into the Durance, which forms the commune's western border. L'Escale Dam Work began on the dam in 1959, which was completed in 1963. With a height of 30ms it retains 15.70 hm³ of water. It is 126 metres long with a road carriageway along which runs the Route Napoleon. There is attached to the dam a power station whose three units produce a total of 170,000 KWs of electricity. Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban
Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban (; oc, Castèl-Arnós e Sant Auban) is a commune in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur in southeastern France. History Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban is on the Route Napoléon, the route taken by Napoléon in 1815 on his return from Elba. Geography Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban is on the river Durance. Population Its inhabitants are referred to as ''Jarlandins''. Sights Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban has one of the French pacifist monuments to the dead, which reads: "war is a crime". The airfield is "Le Centre National de Vol à Voile", the French national centre for the sport of gliding. Le Chaffaut-St-Jurson (; oc, Lo Chafauc e Sant Jurson) is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France. Geography The village is located at an altitude of 584 meters, in the valley of the Bléone. The differents commune adjacent to Le Chauffaut-Saint-Jurson are Aiglun, Digne-les-Bains, Châteauredon, Mézel, Saint-Jeannet, Malijai, Mirabeau, Mallemoisson. Toponymy The locality of Chaffaut appeared for the first time in the textes between 1064 and 1079 (in Kadalfucho ). The term comes from the north-occitan translating cadalfac, naming a house with an outside staircase and a balcony according to Ernest Nègre, from catafalicum, meaning scaffold or siege tower according to Bénédicte and Jean-Jacques Fénié. Bras-d'Asse is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Demonym The inhabitants are named Bras d'assiens Geography The village is at an elevation of 475 meters (1558 ft). The bordering municipalities are Saint-Jeannet, Estoublon, Saint-Julien-d'Asse, Saint-Jurs and Puimoisson.
