Fontaine-Notre-Dame is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. Heraldry Fontaine-Notre-Dame in World War I Fontaine-Notre-Dame was the scene of intense fighting during the Battle of Cambrai in World War I. The battle started on 20 November 1917 when the British army made significant advances (4 miles) by virtue of its extensive use of tanks (300) for the first time. Escaudœuvres () is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. History Escaudœuvres is famous for being the location of the sugar factory of the Sucrerie centrale de Cambrai.
