The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) is a committee of the European Parliament. Committees Of The European Parliament
The committees of the European Parliament are designed to aid the European Commission in initiating legislation. Standing committees are made up of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), who are directly elected to the seats in the European Parliament by the electorate. Each committee has a chairman and four vice-chairmen, along with numerous committee members. Each committee also has substitute members. Reports are usually compiled by a rapporteur, who is appointed by the chairman of the committee, selected from amongst the members or permanent substitutes. Elisabeth Köstinger (born 22 November 1978) is an Austrian politician who has been serving as Minister for Agriculture, Sustainability and Tourism in the government of Chancellors Sebastian Kurz, Alexander Schallenberg, and Karl Nehammer since 7 January 2020. She previously served in this capacity from December 2017 until June 2019. She is a member of the Austrian People's Party, part of the European People's Party. Janusz Czesław Wojciechowski (born 6 December 1954 in Rawa Mazowiecka) is a Polish politician and was a long-standing Member of the European Parliament, elected from the Lodz Voivodship representing the Polish People's Party (PSL) (2004–2006), the Polish People's Party "Piast" (PSL "Piast") (2006–2010) and, lately, Law and Justice (since 2010). Paul Brannen (born 13 September 1962) is a British Labour Party politician. He is a former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the North East England region: he was elected in 2014 and lost his seat in 2019. Early life Brannen was brought up in Tyneside, North East England. He attended the University of Leeds, where he studied theology and religious studies.
