Committee On Development
The Committee on Development (Commission du développement, DEVE) is a committee of the European Parliament responsible for promoting, implementing and monitoring the development and cooperation policy of the European Union, notably talks with developing countries; aid to developing countries; and promotion of democratic values, good governance and human rights in developing countries. The committee has thirty-four members and the same number of substitute members. Its current chair, elected on 10 July 2019, is Tomas Tobé. Committees Of The European Parliament
The committees of the European Parliament are designed to aid the European Commission in initiating legislation. Standing committees are made up of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), who are directly elected to the seats in the European Parliament by the electorate. Each committee has a chairman and four vice-chairmen, along with numerous committee members. Each committee also has substitute members. Reports are usually compiled by a rapporteur, who is appointed by the chairman of the committee, selected from amongst the members or permanent substitutes. Good governance is the process of measuring how public institutions conduct public affairs and manage public resources and guarantee the realization of human rights in a manner essentially free of abuse and corruption and with due regard for the rule of law. Tomas Tobé
Tomas Gunnar Tobé (born 16 February 1978) is a Swedish politician and who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since the 2019 European Parliament election in Sweden. He was the party secretary of the Moderate Party from 10 January 2015 to 2 June 2017. Political career Career in national politics Tobé was elected to the Swedish Riksdag in the 2006 general election. During his parliament, he served as chair of its Committee on Employment from 2010 to 2012; the Committee on Education from 2012 to 2014; and the Committee on Legal Affairs from 2018 to 2019. Linda McAvan
Linda McAvan (born 2 December 1962) is a British Labour Party politician, who was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Yorkshire and the Humber from 1998, when she was first elected in a by-election following the resignation of Norman West. She served until her resignation on 19 April 2019. Before being elected McAvan worked for Barnsley Borough Council and was the European Officer for the Coalfields Community Campaign. Eva Joly (; born Gro Eva Farseth; 5 December 1943) is a Norwegian-born French ''juge d'instruction'' (magistrate) and politician for Europe Écologie–The Greens. Josep Borrell
Josep Borrell Fontelles (; born 24 April 1947) is a Spanish politician serving as High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy since 1 December 2019. Michel Rocard
Michel Rocard (; 23 August 1930 – 2 July 2016) was a French politician and a member of the Socialist Party (PS). He served as Prime Minister under François Mitterrand from 1988 to 1991 during which he created the ''Revenu minimum d'insertion'' (RMI), a social minimum welfare program for indigents, and achieved the Matignon Accords regarding the status of New Caledonia. European Development Fund
Global Europe, officially the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI), is the financial arm of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, which provides funding for the European Neighbourhood Policy and the European Union Global Strategy in any third countries except for those currently on the EU enlargement agenda. It has been established in 2021 through merging the European Neighbourhood Instrument, the European Development Fund and the Instrument for Stability. Neigbourhood component The European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) came into force in 2014.
