Commitment For The Valencian Country
Commitment for the Valencian Country ( ca-valencia, link=no, Compromís pel País Valencià, Compromís PV or CPV) was a Valencian political coalition formed for the 2007 Valencian regional election by United Left of the Valencian Country (EUPV), Valencian Nationalist Bloc (Bloc), The Greens of the Valencian Country (EVPV), The Greens–Ecologist Left of the Valencian Country (EV–EE) and Republican Left (IR). After the coalition's failure to fulfill expectations, it was not renewed for the 2008 Spanish general election, where Valencian People's Initiative (IdPV), a split-off from EUPV, chose to run together with the Bloc and EV–EE in opposition to the United and Republican Left alliance (formed by EUPV and IR). CPV eventually disbanded in November 2008 after EUPV MPs split from their parliamentary group in the Corts Valencianes. The Bloc, IdPV and EV–EE would strengthen their alliance and form Coalició Compromís ( en, Commitment Coalition) in 2010. History Talks had be ...

Valencian Nationalist Bloc
The Valencian Nationalist Bloc ( ca-valencia, Bloc Nacionalista Valencià, Bloc or ''BNV''; ) was a Valencian nationalist party in the Valencian Country, Spain. It was the largest party in the Coalició Compromís until 2021, when it was replaced in a refoundation process by Més–Compromís. History The Bloc was formed in 1998 as a result of the federation of several parties in a coalition formed for the 1995 regional elections. That group of parties was headed by Unitat del Poble Valencià (UPV, founded in 1982) which is the main predecessor of the current Bloc, together with other smaller parties, often locally based, such as the Valencian Nationalist Party (1990) or Alcoi Nationalists (1994). The Bloc has historically defined itself as a left-wing party. This position shifted to a centrist or center-left position in the late nineties, as part of a strategy to appeal to a broader audience known as ''tercera via'' (third way). This strategy proved unsuccessful, especially du ...

Eco-socialism
Eco-socialism (also known as green socialism or socialist ecology) is an ideology merging aspects of socialism with that of green politics, ecology and alter-globalization or anti-globalization. Eco-socialists generally believe that the expansion of the capitalist system is the cause of social exclusion, poverty, war and environmental degradation through globalization and imperialism, under the supervision of repressive states and transnational structures. Eco-socialism asserts that the capitalist economic system is fundamentally incompatible with the ecological and social requirements of sustainability. Thus, according to this analysis, giving economic priority to the fulfillment of human needs while staying within ecological limits, as sustainable development demands, is in conflict with the structural workings of capitalism. By this logic, market-based solutions to ecological crises (such as environmental economics and green economy) are rejected as technical tweaks that d ...

2007 Spanish Local Elections
The 2007 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 27 May 2007, to elect all 66,131 councillors in the 8,111 municipalities of Spain and all 1,038 seats in 38 provincial deputations. The elections were held simultaneously with regional elections in thirteen autonomous communities, as well as local elections in the three foral deputations of the Basque Country and the eleven island councils in the Balearic and Canary Islands. The results saw few changes overall; most incumbent governments retained their majority, with only a few exceptions. The PP government in the Balearics fell, and a coalition led by PSOE took power. While the elections were seen as a first indication of how the 2008 Spanish general election might turn out, the results proved to be inconclusive. In 2003, the PSOE had a slight edge with 34.8 against the PP's 34.3; in this election, the PP had 35.6 to the PSOE's 34.9. Turnout was slightly lower, with 63.8 instead of 67.7 four years earlier. The alliance also included the Socialist Party of the Valencian Country (PSPV–PSOE) in six municipalities in the judicial district of Sueca to contest the 2003 Spanish local elections. Ahead of the 2004 Spanish general election, L'Entesa explored a coalition with the Valencian Nationalist Bloc (Bloc), which was ultimately rejected by the later. Subsequently, EV/LV announced its withdrawal from the alliance in order to run in coalition with the PSOE, whereas EV choose not to renew their alliance with EUPV for the 2004 general election. As a result, the alliance was reduced to EUPV. It was later joined for the 2004 European Parliament election by the platform of regional LV MP Carles Arnal, who would ...

2008 Spanish General Election
The 2008 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 9 March 2008, to elect the 9th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 264 seats in the Senate. After four years of growing bipolarisation of Spanish politics, the election saw a record result for both ruling Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) and opposition People's Party (PP), together obtaining more than 83% of the vote share—over 21 million votes—and 92% of the Congress seats. The PSOE under José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero benefitted from tactical voting against the PP and emerged as the most-voted party just 7 seats short of an overall majority. On the other hand, Mariano Rajoy's PP saw an increase in its vote share and seat count but remained unable to overtake the Socialists. United Left (IU) had its worst general election performance ever with less than 4% and 2 seats. Regional nationalist parties Convergence and Union (CiU), ...

Green Politics
Green politics, or ecopolitics, is a political ideology that aims to foster an ecologically sustainable society often, but not always, rooted in environmentalism, nonviolence, social justice and grassroots democracy. Wall 2010. p. 12-13. It began taking shape in the western world in the 1970s; since then Green parties have developed and established themselves in many countries around the globe and have achieved some electoral success. The political term green was used initially in relation to ''die Grünen'' (German for "the Greens"), a green party formed in the late 1970s. The term political ecology is sometimes used in academic circles, but it has come to represent an interdisciplinary field of study as the academic discipline offers wide-ranging studies integrating ecological social sciences with political economy in topics such as degradation and marginalization, environmental conflict, conservation and control and environmental identities and social movements.
